Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Replacing my Dynastar 8000s - any advice?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Need to replace my Dynastar 8000s (2009 version) and am looking for a similar all mountain ski with bias to off piste.

Anyone with experience of the 8000 able to suggest a replacement which is as good (or better)?

Ta v much in advance.

I used to have the 8800 ages ago and changed them for something a bit wider underfoot - 104mm.

You could try the Mantra's though.

Blizzard Brahma/Bonafide/Cochise or the Dynastar Cham range

Ta both - I've skied on Mantras and didn't much like them, though couldn't really say why, will have a look at some Chams I think.

jbob, yep, like I said, I've skied on Mantras and didn't like them. To be honest, for an all mountain ski I'd be quite happy to just buy another pair of 8000s (mine are now beyond saving) but I haven't been able to find any (albeit after a not massive search).

northernsoulboy, I went from the 8000 to a Sultan 85 a few years back. Not as good in moguls but much better at carving and quite a bit more float due to the wider tip. From there to a Dynastar Big Trouble which was the best all rounder of the three. Maybe the Sixth Sense Slicer could be worth a look?

Nordica also have a similar feel on snow to Dynastar, so whichever waist width of the Nordica and Blizzard (usually a little stiffer than the equivalent Nordica) line could work.
