Not many snowheads are big backcountry fanatics, but what do you think of this design? shocking? violent? who cares, it's gonna be covered by snow anyway? in line with everyday TV images? worth a boycott?

I had to read the article to understand the graphics. it wasn't immediately obvious to me what it was. However, I feel the concept behind it is a bit sick.

We should be used to companies that use shock tactics to advertise (United Colours of Beneton for eg), but this maybe a step too far.

I just can't believe that any marketing exec would believe the publicity would be worth the inevitable controversy. If it's a joke it's a pretty sick one. If it's true Rossignol have gone mad. The link to contact them is a viable one.

Hhmmm.
Not what I would put on a ski but I suppose different folks and all that.
I wouldn't say it's morbid as you have huge robots on ski's and pistols etc - seeing as it's only a film character surely it's less morbid than a gun?

i don't think that anyone would object to Freddie Krueger on a ski graphic, just as many boards (unfortunately) have demons, etc in the heavy metal album cover style.
it's the fact that a person being attacked that makes this shocking. a gun would be fine but a gun blowing a child's brains out? no way.
misguided marketing is an understatement
if it's a joke, Rossignol should sue

Well they don't hang about at Rossignol! This is a pretty quick response to the article in question, following my email, they must have been bombarded with complaints today ......

the subject "To be honest, I had always understood the concept as
being an abstract graphic, however, upon hearing it described
otherwise in the article, our Company wants there to be no potential
for such an interpretation, and has taken the steps to leave no room
for doubt. Rossignol has been leading the charge in the respect and
development of our sport for women."
Mr. Goulet, in his statement, thanked the writer for having brought
this to the Company's attention and enabling him to act swiftly and
decisively.

Well done PG, and I suppose well done Rossignol for admiting their error and correcting it. Would some other organisations (mentioning no names) were of similar calibre.

Wow - that's amazing.
To be honest though when I looked at it I just saw abstract shapes and colours and only with the article and some imagination did I see the woman.
Good for them though to change it - that will cost a fortune so they have my respect. Obviously I won't be buying any cos I can't afford it but if I could I would!!!
