Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Grimentz - advice needed

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Afternoon all,

I'm taking a group of customers to Grimentz around the middle of March. So far, have accommodation booked, and I'm looking for someone to help with some guidance on eating, drinking and, most importantly, skiing......

We're only there for 3 days, so want to make the most of it. Is there anything by way of particularly nice restaurants on or off the mountain, any "must do" pistes ? We're also looking to hire instructors for the weekend for the custys, so any tips as to english speaking instructors in the area would be gratefully received.....

I presume the shiny new gondola over to Zinal will be open by then also Little Angel

Other things to do in the area ? Any spa or thermal bath type locations (for the more delicate customer types) ?

I'll be down before to check it out myself for a sneaky weekend, so will do a dry run based on the no doubt many recommendations that will flood in...

Cheers!

Right, by a happy co-incidence, the bendolla moonlight fondu appears to be on that weekend, so thats 1 thing in for the saturday. Cool.

coddlesangers, The evening fondu followed by skiing down from the top lift in the dark, slightly pissed is brilliant. You need to get it booked though as places are limited and it gets booked up quickly especially if it's on a weekend. Yes the new cable-car should be open. Eating out I'd suggest L'etable du marais during the day in Grimentz. Harlequin and Meleze in Grimentz are both reasonable, the later has an open grill to allow you to cook your own meat, again needs booking. Other recommended restaurants for evenings are Gite du Prilet or Bella Tolla Hotel both in St Luc. The later is a fine dining establishment with prices to match, how good customers are they? Can recommend all runs in the valley, few will disappoint but one of my favourites is the itinerary down to St Jean, great last run of the day as there is bar at the bottom and you'll need to get the bus back to Grimentz. Try mountain tracks for a guide. There are several spa baths but they are all down in the Rhone valley or further afield, most are about an hour drive. One we particularly like is at Lavey les bains but it's a half day trip minimum. Enjoy!

Thanks! That's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Mixed standard of people going, so i'd imagine we'll divide and conquer for itineries..

coddlesangers, check out http://www.backcountryadventures.co.uk for guiding. Sebastien at ESI can sort instructors. I can send restaurant list if you PM me. Nearest spectacular spa is in Leukerbad but this is quite a distance. Nothing comparable in this Valley.

Was there last weekend, and the shiny new gondola opened (quietly) on Saturday morning. We were on the first public one up. Very Happy . We had never been to Grimentz before, but had 2 excellent meals at the Hotel de Moiry-food that surpasses anything you would expect for a 2 star hotel. We also had a good pizza in the Arlequin, and a nice lunch at Chez Florioz just at the bottom of the run back to the village.

Recommend www.swissskicamps.ch I have skied with Stefano (one of the owners/coaches) for several years, his colleague David is also great. Can't recommend them enough actually, highly qualified, english speaking, true coaches who love teaching, great use of video (including making a short video for you to take away), great local knowledge.
