Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How interchageable are bindings?

Ok daft question or maybe not......

Providing it's the same manufacturer/same style of binding how interchangeable are bindings? Seen a pair of skis I like that are being sold 2nd hand without bindings, we're the same boot size, he had some markers on 110mm brake, I have some spare Markers-not the same model also 110mm break. They're at the other end of the country so can't do the sensible thing and check for myself. Anyone any experience of this? Do drill patterns tend to be the same?

If the bindings are mounted flat on the ski, and not via some form of plate, them they are generally interchangeable. Drill patterns are likely not the same, but filling the existing holes and re-drilling is standard practice.

If the bindings go via on a plate, then they are likely to not be interchangeable - even within the same manufacturer.

If you post the models of bindings involved, maybe someone could give you a more definitive answer.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Grizwald, if you tell me the model of both pairs of Markers I'll tell you if they have the same mounting pattern.

Sorry but they have totally different mounting locations at the but if you have the same boot length as the original mount on the skis then you can just about mount your existing bindings without any conflicts & get the required separation. The two rearmost holes in the toe are shared between both models but there's plenty of separation for the other two.
