Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi everyone,
Going to La Thuile in a couple of weeks with some friends. One of the group has wide feet. I know from bitter experience that getting hire boots to fit wide feet is difficult, which is why I now have my own. But to give my friend a fighting chance of getting a decent fit are there certain brands that she could ask for? My boots are Head, can't remember the model name. They are wide but had to be stretched for me also. Are there any other brands that would be worth a try?
Thanks in advance.

Jo66, not brands but models within a brand, so the Atomic B series is a wide fitting boot, but not sure if it's still available. Atomic Live Fit boots have a rubbery panel at the sides which allows the boot to 'give'. So they may be worth a try. I'm sure someone else will be along with other suggestions soon.

The Salomon boots I have (just making that clear, what I wrote before made it seem like I was saying all Salomon boots are wide fitting but I wasn't, I just didn't word it correctly) are wide fitting boots and they have a wide calf area. I also tried on head boots (don't know what type they were though) and whilst the foot width was fine the calf area wasn't quite big enough so you might have to watch there as well.

I have the wide foot, wide calf problem too, solved with Head boots. Mine are slightly shorter in height (from floor to top of cuff) that the other models I tried on at the time, so the wider part of the calf sits above the cuff so it doesn't dig in. I've had them blown out at the toe as well, but they are reasonably wide to start with.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Just to say again that you cannot say a particular brand of ski boot is good for a wider foot, all brands have boots of different last widths, you need to find the wider fitting MODELS within the brands. Saying Head boots (or Salomon) are widest is the same as saying red skis are fastest
