Im off to St Anton in a week and a half - Im a poor intermeddiate, not ski'd for 7 years wo will take a few days to get up to speed. I fancy a trip over to Stuben at some point, I just wondered how hard the runs are there? I am not afraid of red runs as long as they are fairly wide and actually red runs, are the Runs in Stuben wide and would you say they are standard reds or more tricky reds? I figured that this area may be good for me second half of the week once I am back in the swing of things, if its queter than St Anton it may be good for building my confidence on harder slopes.

It's been a while now since I was there but I recall there may be some lovely true "red" run piste skiing. Nothing especially "tricky" so I say go for it.

The north facing runs are usually in very good condition, they are pretty wide at the top where they are steepest, lower down some parts are along tracks so a bit narrower, but at that point they are not steep. I'd say they are the same as other red runs in the area, they are a bit steeper than red runs in the Dolomites.

The runs in question in Stuben are indeed wide for the most part and are the gradient I would expect a red run to be. However they are north facing, apart from the shorter run over the back, with the result that they can get very smooth and hard packed. Even fairly good skiers can find themselves sliding a long way on some turns. As long as you are comfortable with those conditions you will be OK, however given what you have said, I would suggest that you ask in the resort when you arrive, what conditions are like in Stuben, before venturing over there.
The conditions I mentioned I experienced in late January the last two seasons.
Having said all that I love Stuben although mainly for the off piste skiing. I also enjoy several places in the village for lunch where I have had good quality and it has never been too busy.

I think you'll be fine in Stuben and the run down is a nice long blue / red. I would strongly recommend a trip to Lech in the first part of the week where a number of the the runs are more forgiving and are groomed to perfection (mainly around Oberlech).

DRHOSKING, pistes in Stuben are all pretty much what is shown in DBs video. If that's what you are looking for I would also suggest heading over to Lech for a day.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and the conditions were ok. They are a bit shady though, I would recommend going to Zurs there are some lovely red runs up on the left side.

You know it makes sense.

Stuben is a great area, the lifts were relatively slow but it was nice and quiet. Took a mate over there with only a weeks skiing and he really enjoyed the reds over there. This was late March time the most challenging bit was getting back over to the St Anton lift as the lower blue slope gets pretty narrow at the bottom and was chopped up/moguled out.
