Poster: A snowHead

I'm out in Jan with my other half and she has a significant birthday during our visit. Can I have some restaurant recommendations please?
We are staying close to the Plenney lift.

Had a good dinner and drinks (and good wine etc) at La Chaudanne. Nice place, affordable but good. We spent about 40 euros a head on two courses and drinks.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

evening meal or lunchtime meal?
Chez Nannon (iirc) is popular choice for on the piste lunchtime meal - recommended to make a table reservation!
think it's just down from Troncs lift? (could be wrong - not been there for years)

La Chaudanne is a top choice - it also has a great wine bar downstairs which we love. We had a really nice meal at the Farmhouse and if you like cheese then La Ferme de la Frutiere is fab.
For lunch it is lovely to ski through Lindarets - there are some lovely restaurants there!

bar shaker, over to Les Gets and go up to La Grande Ourse on Mont Chery - they will pick you up at bottom and drive you up in a converted piste basher for the evening

bar shaker, we've been to L'Etale a couple of times and had really great food, if you tell them about the birthday they will bring a special dessert with sparklers and sing at the table if you like that kind of thing

The etale is good, but personally I don't trust any restaurant with a menu that big to be cooking things freshly.
Just a thought.
FWIW the Chaumade is very good but my preference (I can never spell it correctly is the clein d'Oeil near the post office. Remember to book especially on a Wednesday.

Great stuff guys. I have booked Grande Ourse, Clein and Chaudanne.
We will try to get a few more in, when out there.
Thanks

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

bar shaker, if you go to the Grande Ourse during the day (and depending on the size of your party) the round table in the corner has a fabulous view over to Mont Blanc

Just wanted to thank you all for contributing to this.
We had an amazing time at La Grande Ourse. We went there twice, the second time on my GF's birthday on Thursday lunchtime. This time we had the glass bubble on the terrace. Wow, what a great event that was. Both times the food was excellent (had the lamb burger first visit and the seafood tartiflette and the Saumur on the Thurs - perfect)
We also had Weds night at La Grange and again this was fabulous food. The Wild Boar stew is to die for!!
Thursday night was at Le Clin L'Oeil. Another top dining experience with excellent rack of lamb (cooked perfectly) and dover sole.
Thanks you so much for helping to make it a great week for us.
