Really sad to have to report that Bernie Warriner of the Lake District ski club passed away today after a short illness. Perhaps the most active skier living in England as recently as last season, Bernie was awarded a British Empire Medal in the new year awards for his outstanding contribution to skiing in the Lake District.
This short film about Raise 'stars' Bernie and gives an idea of his larger than life personality.
Oh too bad. Privileged to meet him last Easter. Absolute skiing star.

Sad news, never actually met him but would have liked to. From what PeterS and fellow skiers at the other place have said about him he was one of the characters of English club skiing. Dedicated to enjoying it and ensuring it could be enjoyed by others.

Never met him, but wish I had.
Rest in Powder indeed.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Sorry to hear that, but what a great little film. I must go up there.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Loved the film, Peter. And rest in piste to that lovely man Bernie.
