The current crop all have the big stuff but some have some very good powder sections. Some of TGRs feature little cottonwood canyon and a guy called dave reynolds, I cant recall the film title even though I've seen it a million times but those shots always stick out for me.
Other than that, try Steep, it traces big mountain pioneers from back in the day. Quite an interesting film.
Failing that get a load of Candide Thorvex (sp) off you tube.

Do you want story, pretentious climate chat, powder, park, mix of both? The majority of professional ski films will have the type of big alaskan lines you talk about. If you want something a bit more chilled out then check out stuff from Meathead Films (aka Ski the East), Nimbus Independent (mostly pow focused but less big cliffs), or have a look at the many many free ski films/edits out there.
The main film companies:
TGR (very big-mountain focused)
Matchsticks Productions (big-mountain/park split)
Level 1 (park/urban)
Sweetgrass Productions / Sherpas Cinemas (boarderline-pretentious)
Warren Miller (aimed at the ordinary run-of-the-mill skier, but don't use original footage it's all bought from some of the above)

All. I. Can. But to be honest, just watch the JP Auclair Street Segment online.
However THE best short ski films I have ever seen are the series "A skier's Journey"- view online. Search under "A Skier's journey, Jordan Manley" . Often achingly beautiful, great sound tracks and nobody says "awesome", "stoked" or "gnar" at any point. Hard to pic a fave or the 9 films, but Baffin Island, La Grave, Dubai and Argentina are in the top of my list.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I'd show them the free stuff online. There's a whole bunch of webisodes that are ace. In no particular order:
Salomon Freeski TV
Nimbus (the current stuff is a bit arty but the last couple of years were ace)
A Skiers Journey
Bon Appetit

Definitely the best ski video ever made. Although the intro sequence to "Licence to Thrill" is pretty cool too.

Do you want to inspire them to pick up cougars, deal drugs and have a ski off against Eddie Shoestring/Waking the Dead and Spandau Ballet?
Also features Coombs doing sick poo-poo.
Aspen Extreme for the win.
