Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Accommodation in Morzine / Avoriaz

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Greetings all,

We're planning a short break skiing trip (thurs to Sun) in early Feb. We've got flights into Geneva sorted and are now on the hunt for accommodation. There's 4 of us.

Any suggestions of places in Avoriaz/Morzine that will take short break bookings? All the apartments etc understandably want full week bookings only.

We did something similar earlier this year but booked it last minute and managed to convince someone to rent us their apartment for a few days as this was better than it standing empty. It's a dangerous tactic leaving it late like that, but if we can't get anywhere booked in advance we may have to do that again this year in Morzine/Avoriaz!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Chris

We did a short break at the Hotel Tremplin, great location for access to the slopes, and also at the Hotel Igloo, both in Morzine.

Both were very helpful, rooms comfortable for a group trip, and I'd go back to either. The Igloo has family rooms, if two of you don't mind sharing a double and mucking in together then they are big enough for a boys weekend and works out very cheap as a result.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Great, thanks for the recommendation! It is indeed a boys trip!

I'll check those places out.

Cheers

chopkins13, Part of the problem with apartments is that many owners (e.g. us) are not set up to easily handle changeovers that aren't on changeover day. Thus hotels often a better bet for long weekends / odd dates.

But be aware that from Feb 15 to March 17 French hotels in/near resort will be most unlikely to accept anything other than Sat-Sat bookings.

There are many hotel bookings sites to search on, too many to list.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Maybe try chaletsdirect.comas well, someone might be able to help through the solutions room. Otherwise finding a hotel might be easier as suggested above. Smile

Try looking up The Apex in Morzine. It's a small B&B but has a chalet feel to it. Just 5 mins from the Super Morzine lift to Avoriaz and not over priced.
I stayed for a long weekend there last year and enjoyed it so much I booked to do the same this year (so hopefully you plan to go after 3rd Feb as I've booked the place out up until then).

Paul and Nina, who run it are very accomodating and can do transfers from Geneva if necessary.

Give Jenny a shout at Chalet Sherpa. I've just got the last room there for December but it's a lively place (I've stayed there before) and even has its own public bar tagged on the side.

*BUMP*

Hi guys - after much searching we still haven't got anywhere sorted!

To re-cap - there's four of us, looking for a bed each for 3 nights from Thursday 6 Feb 2014 - ideally in Morzine, but not fussy on quality of accommodation - we'll be sleeping in it and not much else!

Any suggestions gratefully received - we're only looking to spend around the £500 mark in total however!

Cheers

chopkins13, you could try Bill at ourmorzineapartment.co.uk. I've stayed there twice in a group of five (although one room has a double bed). It's just opposite the Nyon lift (virtually ski to door), so a bit out of town but the walk is only 20 mins or so through the forest, or very cheap in a cab. Plus there is a small restaurant just up the road from the apartment. I've always done short breaks, usually three nights. Very comfy, but not plush.
