Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

So Mrs rungsp and I are off to Niseko in a few weeks to visit The Lad.
Insurance:
We usually ski in Switzerland and self-insure (ie don't buy trip insurance).
We do pay for the Swiss equivalent of Carre-Neige and have our EHIC cards.
Clearly EHIC no use in Japan!
Skiing will be on and off piste.....and the main attraction is the offpiste.
Niseko's off-piste is something like the USA, ie within resort boundries.
We will usually be skiing with an instructor...but not paying for him(!), but not always.
Certainly not with a guide.
So...if you have been to Japan and bought suitable insurance...I'd love to know about it.
If you have just spotted a suitable policy when buying insurance for a.n.other ski trip in Europe or elsewhere...I'd love to know more about that too.
Fingers crossed it is not needed, but I'd hate to get "small printed" if it is.

Check out Deutsch Ski Verband (they have an English site).
Also you will most definitely want to go out of the gates into the proper off-piste.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks, I'll look at them.
Any other ideas fellow snowHeads?

i went with Dogtag last year, seemed to be pretty good service and suited me well; tbh i cannot recall how much i specified all the details of guiding etc. Despite nearly being killed (minor exaggeration) in two separate incidents, both observed by my assassin guides, I had no cause to make a call on the policy so can't comment on that aspect either. But u do get a nice dogtag.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I went and bought annual worldwide insurance + ski with amex, off-piste skiing is allowed in their t&c
