Poster: A snowHead

Hi, anyone used Epitact to help combat sore shins? The guy at solutions4feet suggested it as a stop gap help for this year.
Next year I am getting new boots properly fitted but no time now before I go skiing to sort anything out for this season.
Just wonder if anyone has had experience of using it, I did search the forum and din't find anything.
Happy 2014 to you all!

swishtony, I use it for the first few days of the season as I seem to have developed sensitive shins.

swishtony, there was a long thread about shin bang in the fitness forum not that long ago. I am not familiar with Epitact, I googled it but could not find the right product. Could you pls provide more info or a link as I also suffer from this issue on a regular basis.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Brilliant! I had some serious shin blisters last season, halfway through a four week stint in the Alps. A pharmacist in Tignes recommended them and I now use them all the time as a preventative measure. I think they were about EU15 or 20 for the pair and they're still going strong after 7 weeks' use. Washable, too. Highly recommended.

I'm a happy ski angel user, all it is is a sheet of fabric backed silicone, anything like that is going to work.
Having said that I don't have too much of a problem , just that after three days the fronts of my shins start looking red and bruised, my boots fit well.

My shins were getting rubbed red raw. I used ski angels, they bunched up and didn't help. For the last 2-3 trips I've simply used fairly large waterproof plasters, seems to work well. Of course you end up with a smooth, bald hair free shin for while but..........

Yeah I found the same with ski angels, I think the bunching up effect actually made things worse. One or two days last year my shins were pretty much bleeding. Hoping the Epitact works better, just bought some off Edge and Wax eBay site.

Bunching is probably due to the combination of sock and protector - I use X-Socks which fit closely all day and don't allow bunching. If you keep an eye out on t'Internet you can find some bargains that bring X-Socks down to decent pricing (esp. out of season)
