Hello all,
So I have had an unusual situation come up. I took my K2 Apache Recon's to Snow and Rock to get them serviced and when I went to pick them up today after hunting high and low through the store it appears they have lost them! Don't quite know how you manage to do that but to be fair to them they have been very apologetic, have kept me updated while they try to see if they have ended up somewhere else and have said that they will replace them if they are unable to find them, which is looking quite likely.
So here is the problem, they don't make the Apache Recon anymore and the replacement is the K2 Rictor which S&R don't sell, so I need to work out what to get. They do sell the K2 AMP CHARGER WITH MX 12.0 BINDING, how does this compare to the Apache?
I like the way that the Apache Recon was an all round ski, I don't do a lot of off piste but when I did it was capable but it was just as happy on piste and was nicely grippy.
The options seem to be:

SALOMON BBR 8.0 WITH KZ12 B80 BINDING

SALOMON ENDURO XT 800 WITH KZ12 B80 BINDING
We are off to St Anton in just over two weeks so don't have a lot of time to get this sorted, so any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't skied on many skis, but I just love my Sally BBR8.9's (shock horror!). Amazing fun anywhere on the mountain. I honestly can't believe there are better skis than these for general purpose skiing. I'm a reasonable intermidiot on piste and an early inter off piste. Hope this helps.

Masque, yes, although I dearly loved my Apache Recons getting a replacement pair is amazing compensation
gixxerniknik, they don't seem to sell the 8.9 anymore and I doubt their replacement policy would stretch to the 9.0

Be careful about BBRs if you are consdering gixxerniknik's idea, definite marmite ski that you'll love or hate, don't get them if you haven't tried them!

I have the grandaddy 'Axis' to the Recons and the XT800 has a very similar feel but with much better torsional stiffness and much better float.
edit: Give you an idea about the XT800 . . . You CANNOT get any discount off them over here and last years are only $100 cheaper on eBay  Very popular.

Good news, they have the XT800 on demo, so am going to pop down on Thursday, give it a test and if I like it I shall plump for that one

I think the the Enduros are a ski that Salomon got spot on straight out of the press the season before last and done little but change the topsheet since . . . get them now, they're bound to screw them up next season
