Last January you lot hooked me up with some sweet tunes to cruise to... but I've used it all up and want to see what 2013 brought before I get my ipod ready for Saturday!
So same question again, what do you listen to when skiing or even just thinking about skiing? Don't care about the genre!
Also would love to find some tunes for if doing stupid stuff and need to get fired up first! Fast and heavy that sort of stuff!
Oh yeah and no not looking for a debate about whether i should listen to music or not....

Trance Groove : Paramount
Wiseguys : Executive Suite (rediscovered this one after losing the CD, having a corrupted mp3 rip but then getting a decent one via iTunes match )
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

ahbut, I'm pretty sure I mentioned that last year, so I've left it out and only listed my new artists/albums

I flew out of bristol in the mid nineties with a TO/charter flight. The jet was taxied to take of position, brakes applied and engine revved in readiness. Anticipation was high and to my delight the "Bip Bip Beeeep" of the start gate sounded, the brakes let of and the Ski Sunday theme tune blared from tiny speakers as we roared down the runway.

OH GOD!!!!, I'm reallllly out of it!, I only recognise about 1 in 10 of the bands / tracks listed!, my music tastes never got much beyond obscure 1980's punk, new wave etc, slightly rekindled by Green Day.
These days my teenage kids tell me to turn my music down!, then start playing some boy band or other mashed potato music (loved by millions but bland boring and tasteless)
I would never listen to music while skiing, mainly as my tastes are music to cause crashes!
Cult; she sells sanctuary, spirit walker
Greenday; American idiot
SLF; Alternative Ulster
Spear of Destiny; Spirits, Liberator, Never take me alive
The Damned,; New rose, smash it up

HAHAHA skiing to that must be hilarious!!!
Why is it that Apres ski songs keep making it into the list? .... do people actually, willingly, make an effort to listen to them? I just thought it was a sales ploy dreamed up to force sober people to buy expensive drinks until they couldn't hear it anymore!

I doubt may folk would recognise most of the bands I'd listed, so I wouldn't worry about it
I listen to an internet radio station called Soma FM, especially their Lush and Secret Agent channels. They play a lot of artists from lesser known labels and I find some really cool and relatively obscure stuff that way.
Their alternative Xmas music is a refreshing change too

The two favourites in my ski collection are the opening chorus "Jauchzet, frohlocket" from Bach's Christmas Oratoria and "Open Up" by Leftfield.

If you fancy something a bit different try: Careful With That Axe Eugene from Floyd's Ummagumma or the Montagues and Capulets movement from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet
Chemical brothers - block rocking beats or galvanize
The prodigy - breathe
Roni size - brown paper bag
Anything really with a fat beat
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

This is were a vast amount of my new purchases are coming from. Groove Salad is my favourite, although Secret Agent is fantastic with the film quotes dropped in
People might want to try another great internet station Radio Meuh. A bar I drank in last year had it on constantly.
Falling - Nitin Swahney (Quantic mix.)
Odyssey - Ruval Consoles
Take a chance - Magic numbers
Holy Pictures - David Holmes
I changed my mind - Quannum and Stereo MCS
Snow into Escape Velocity - Chemical Brothers
True Skool - Cold Cut feat Roots Manuva
I normally have a playlist sorted for running before I go on holiday.
Another great one is Hybrid Soundsystem. They do loads of film scores and have a few free downloads on their website www.hybridsoundsystem.com. One is about three hours long - DJ set from Chinese Laundry.
I shall be checking some of theses recommendations out tonight. Thanks
