Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Any one any thoughts on the Hitachi HDSV01U HD Action Camera in argos for £59.99 - it wont deliver the highest quality footage but it is a cheap alternative

16,000/(75*60) equals 3.5 Mb/sec. If the sensor is 5mpix then that is <1fps or about 1.5fps in HD.

I guess it is compressing the data or they are wrong. Or my maths i wrong because im tired.

´PS HD is only about the full res of a monitor. Or slightly less if it is a good monitor.
However, most people look at the video on a screen window of about 600x900 so you dont need a full HD camera.

In snowy conditions where the snow can saturate the pixels easilly and the dark parts will be low level compared to chip read noise,
you are better getting a lower pixel number and a chip with a good dynamic range (14 bit should be fine). Or get a camera with bin mode.

PPS Argos say it is 120gbp but it is 69gbp from Hitatchi on Amazon. So I wold not beleive it is as big a bargain that Argos say it is.
