Hi headers, me and my boyfriend just booked up Sauze for Christmas and was wondering if anybody had any recommendations what to do for christmas dinner? We'd obviously like to go out for dinner somewhere nice and wondered if in your experience any of the restaurants/hotels do a good christmas dinner and whether its best to book up before we go or just wing it when we get there??

Was there last year, though in a catered chalet so didn't have to go looking for Christmas dinner. There are some very nice places to eat in the old town. You might not get a traditional English style dinner but you will get good food.

Thank you, we don't want a Turkey dinner and Xmas pud!! Just perhaps a nice Italian place that would do a few courses etc, perhaps a bit more of an event type thing! I'm sure we'll find something good - I may email a few places from trip adviser or something...

Italians tend not to bother with Christmas day, they focus on Christmas Eve and Boxing day.
Try ristorante l' ortiche - I don't know how to gennerate the little dash above an e but it's the one on Via Assietta. Book as soon as you arrive as it's always busy.

The Ciao Pais is a good traditional restaurant, but you would need to get a snow mobile up to it in the evening. If you want a long leisurely lunch this is the place to stop. The Old Inn is also a very nice traditional place just above the bottom of the Clotes lift.

To be honest I didn't really take much notice... I kind of like getting away from all the x-mas crap at home.

La Barrica in Oulx ... down the mountain a bit ... if it's open.
It's run by a lovely French Canadian lady.
So far, the best food I have had in the area ... they also have a massive cellar stocked with fabulous wine.

Definitely! fantastic food there... and the wine!
Ciao Pais is good excellent on the right day, but they have been known to take the mickey by charging for a carafe of tap water. They'll love you if you have a big wallet. If you're only going in for a minestrone and a glass of water, don't expect a smile.
Also try the Chalmettes, way over to the left as you ski down to SanSicarrio. A fantastic place. Off slope 79bis if I remember correctly.

Hiya, I have another question for all you people in the know...
what kind of travel plug do u need for Sauze... sounds like a random question but i went to Italy in Sept and it was a thin pronged plug, but I've been to other areas in Italy and I'm sure my normal fat one worked fine... aghh advice? xx

I think the other was a Southern Europe one so was for Southern Italy which I guess Sauze isn't!
