I was sooo wrong!
This used to be my view, and probably a few others feel the same. Have always done a bit of gym,and road bike,as the season approached but, lets be honest, gym is pretty tedious for most, and biking is much better in the sunshine?
Through my wifes work,I have access to a mega sports facility at a local private school, and they do spin classes. She does them, but it took a little effort to persuade me to try it(and I only gave in to keep the peace ) I'm glad I did. Started some weeks ago,and it has transformed my leg/back strength, along with my overall posture. Also trimmed my waist a fair bit
I must stress though, these are no lycra clad girly sessions(maybe one or two ),but blood and guts spin! Two trainers, both hard. A 45min session of near constant effort, but well structured and highly effective. And,best of all for me,fun.
With my slightly cranky knees,I have to be careful, but all is well, with no knee soreness at all. And there is no doubt that the communal spirit 'does' carry people along.
For those bored by the gym,and seeking a fun and effective way to fitten up...do it!
There must be loads of spinners on here.......time to come out
(And no....I don't sell spin bikes )
