Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A snowHead
I've been skiing for years, all on rentals. I'm a decent intermediate skier who likes to go off the groomed a bit, and do some small (emphasis on small) jumps. I've always wanted some skis of my own, and I just picked up some $45 skis off of ebay. They're
K2
Diablos with a sick retro paint scheme - but I saw that these skis are old, like the design came out in the 90's. I have little to no knowledge about ski gear, but these skis and bindings were in great shape, so I jumped on them. I have been renting late-model skis. Will these Diablos be different feeling and performing? Also, will they work for my applications and in the often-shady conditions of southern skiing (Indiana)? I was trying to avoid old gear like the long skinny things from the 80's... did I get just that? Any advice please!!!
Thanks

El Caminos! El Caminos! My bad...
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Ski shapes and technology have changed quite a bit. If you've been skiing modern stuff, I suspect you'll find the El Caminos quite different (they've got a noticably longer radius, for example), but ski feel is pretty subjective. You may find that they've come with older model bindings that are no longer indemnified, which means you might have a bit of difficulty getting them tested to see if they're still in spec, and you may well have to set em up yourself.
Plenty of threads elsewhere on the interwebs about them... mostly from 5+ years ago, with the owners looking for something new

Beautiful looking skis, they've got a certain charm but...
