Poster: A snowHead
|
We will be in Les Carroz for Christmas and although we wouldn't usually book a restaurant in advance have been advised that we should for these two days.
Does anyone have any recommendations, please. Not looking for anything fancy, just good food and a nice atmosphere at a (relatively) reasonable price.

The Gron grill restaurant is nice, especially if you like meat. The Petits Oignons is quite fancy and the food is great. Can't guarantee friendly service though in either!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I like Le Milk hotel, but it is up at the top of the village. Le Poirier was an excellent pizza place, though the staff /owner changed in 10/11 and the pizzas didn't seem as good. Service was friendly though. La Spatule is a nice good value option too.

Agree with Perty, Spatule and Poirier are 2 of my favourites.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

In Addition - Eating out Xmas day evening will be a bit quieter but certainly book in good time for Xmas Eve. Also on Xmas Eve there will be celebrations around "Pere Noels" arrival in resort centre and it will be busy until about 8pm, probably with complimentary concert & Vin Chaud from 5 or 6 pm (details will be on Tourist office website in good time)

Remember the French don't do X-Mas lunch on X-Mas day so no need to book for that day - lunch or dinner. They celebrate on X-Mas eve so that's the night you would need to book in advance - a week before is usually enough though. Plenty of good eateries in Les Carroz. Peak Retreats clients have recommended Les Servages (maybe a little more expensive thabn others from memory but was excellent last time I ate there), Aux Petits Oignons, L'Agora in particular.

Les Servages is a 5* hotel at foot of the Timalets red piste, 1km from centre of village (where is your accommodation/do you have transport/do you mind the walk?), its restaurant is more expensive but would not dispute its excellence.

Forgot to add a personal recommendation which is Les Airelles but then on busy nights they may reserve most of the tables to the hotel guests. otherwise a good place for lunch as at bottom of the slopes next to Les Chalets de Jouvence which we feature.
