Poster: A snowHead

Looking to go for 3/4 days in March. Have found flights at reasonable times to Geneva, Salzburg and Turin for good prices, but wanted some advice about the resorts with quickest, cheapest and easiest transfers. Have managed to find some close resorts online but only two of us and so think hiring a car might not be the best option as it would be for 4 people, and conscious that closest isn't always cheapest and quickest when it comes to resort transfers. Planning on just finding an apartment hotel or guest house online through booking.com or something like that but if anyone has any gems they can recommend that would also be appreciated. Many thanks..

waheikedawn, GVA is the easiest transferwise as loads of companies run cheap scheduled transfers into the popular resorts

Salzburg is only an hour from many resorts in the ski Amade. There is a train that runs through the valley to schladming. Stayed there for three nights with no booking problems.

Morrilon or Samoens give you easy access to the grand massive from valley level both about an hour from GVA

waheikedawn, March can be a month of contrasts.... Do you have a date in mind?

Sauze d'Oulx is an hour from Turin. Great for a short break.

waheikedawn, the Geneva Airport experience is so horrible that I would tend to avoid it if possible. Another vote here for a cheap, quick transfer out of Salzburg (lovely small airport) to somewhere in the Ski Amade.

any of the resorts in salzburger land are great for a few days. Sometimes getting 3 nights b&b can be a bit of a chore. We will be there March first, 3 days skiing, a day each in Leogang, Lofer and Waidring.

Avoid the first week (any time between the 1st and 8th March) as it is Fasching week - Bavarian and Baden-Württemberg half term as well! After that it should be a doddle to get anywhere, especially this season!

Thank you all for your suggestions. The dates we're looking at are early flight Sunday 16th until Thursday 20th. Other than trips to Kitzbuhel and Cormayeur years ago I've been to France pretty much every season so was leaning towards the other two, it's just Geneva flights are plentiful and more local to us, so was keeping options open. Salzburg flights are more appealing than the Turin ones so the Austrian option sounds like a good one. So snow sure resorts that are cheaply and easily reached from Salzburg - Zell/Kaprun, Schladming, Saalbach??? Thank you.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Obertauern is another that fits your "snow sure resorts that are cheaply and easily reached from Salzburg" proviso.
