Poster: A snowHead
|
I'm heading to LaPlagne Dec 15th and will be looking for 3 or 4 days off piste! (conditions allowing)
Last time I was there I had 3/4 afternoons with Oxygene on their Steep & Deep which I remember being good value and groups of only 2 or 3.
I think another option is New Gen or maybe an independent guide ?
Anyone have any contacts out there or recommendations otherwise probably tempted to try Oxygene again.
Hoping the snow keeps falling Dave

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

ESF also run off-piste courses, whereabouts are you staying?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Try Reflex too. Christophe Lagu is the guy that runs it. I've had many guests over three seasons and a number of colleagues do serious off piste with Reflex and all rated all the instructors very highly.

chaletgirl, Thanks, may well try that.
skichampcouk, Not so keen on ESF, seem a bit to French and larger groups. Maybe I've just been unlucky with them in the past.
Staying with Silverski in the Bon Coin at the top of Villages so I assume Plagne centre is where we will meet up ?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I have used loads of off-piste and mountain guiding operations throughout the alps. Oxygene were really excellent when I was on their Steep and Deep for a week. I would go straight back to them. Christophe Monet was the guide.

You could also try a snowhead - offpisteskiing, he is based in Bozel and knows the area really well which is what you would want for the first week of the season.
You can contact him via pm or via his website www.offpisteskiing.com

There used to be a wonderful book on the La Plagne and Les Arcs off piste (Les clés de Paradiski : Les plus beaux hors-pistes, édition bilingue français-anglais ) but it seems to be out of print.
As I am sure you know, the whole area is very good for off piste - from gentle to very steep (the back of the Bellecote (La Plagne) and the back of the Aiguille Rouge (Les Arcs).
I do not know who put off piste groups together, but if you want a private guide Laurent (previously a TopSki guide) is good (He lives in Bourg St Maurice and is on www.skiguiding.com ).
