Poster: A snowHead

driving down this year (to drive down costs) for the first time, going over new year.
We're staying in Villaroger (Les Arcs), thinking of getting a motel for the night around Bourg/Albertville - so we can arrive a.m. for a decent days ski-ing.
Any suggestions for motel, or similar, around there?
Cheers .... Simon.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Perce Neige in Viclaire is comfy and friendly (and does good food) for a quick stop. Pretty simple accommodation, but cheap. It's about half-way between Bourg & Villaroger.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

some of the hotels nearer to the ski areas (BSM Aime, Moutiers may not take 1 nighters as they may miss out on a full weeks booking) New Years is usually well booked up in advance near the ski areas

simonx, If you want something much nicer than a motel, with great food, lovely people, try http://www.chaletsavoiefaire.com/ , up at around 1200m on the left before arriving at Moutiers

Try Hotel L'Autantic in Bourg. We've stayed a couple of time when on business in Les Arcs during the off season

Again tho' , may not be too keen on a single night stay in high season.

simonx, The Ibis buget hotel (formerly etap) in Albertville is extremely easy to find and is good as just somewhere to stay the night after a long journey. It is just off junction 26 of the N90, within easy reach of the centre if you need to eat and you can turn up at any time of night if you have the credit card you booked with.
Costs in the region of 40 euros for a room for 3 and should have availability midweek.

Ibis Moutiers Tarentaise is our favoured overnight stop or the Etap in Albertville if not available.

Another vote for the Ibis Budget (formerly Etap) in Albertville - bookable online at Accor Hotels. Cheap but fine - and a reasonable continental breakfast available too.

My daughters also used to like staying at Etap Albertville as they got to go to the Buffalo Grill round the corner.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

simonx, It is now the Hotel-Inn Moutiers, more details here - http://www.hotel-inn.fr/moutiers . There was still a hotel where the Ibis used to be when we drove past it on Tuesday so hopefully it is still standing.
