Can anyone recommend a resort suitable for beginners / intermediate skiers for late April 2014 =Easter holidays ? Preferably at the lower- middle end of the price range too for a catered chalet

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

welshlady, is that the school Easter holidays or actual Easter? Our schools are off from 5/4. Either way Val Thorens, Tignes or maybe La Rosiere in France; Obergurgl in Austria, although the latter is largely hotel-based

welshlady, we are going les Deux Alpes 14tu April, and we went to Belle Plagne 15th April last year. I appreciate last year was pretty exceptional but there was loads of snow though it did warm up considerably that week and the lowest runs were suffering by the end of the week. I have also been to Courchevel around Easter staying high was great but we didnt bother with the run between 1850 and 1550 (where we were staying as it was so patchy looking though others skied it).

welshlady, La Rosiere closes 26th April, we've always been able to ski back to the village in that week. Some of the lower runs are closed but everything above the the village is usually open. Have a look at www.larosiere.net for details, there are always good deals late in the season, try www.morealps.com or www.amountainchalet.com for good value catered chalets.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

La Plagne is open until the 27th April and is a good bet for beginners and intermediates. We have spaces in our catered chalet starting at £450 per adult - details via the link below

welshlady, have a look at chalets near the Prodains cable car in Morzine, you will be in Avoriaz in no time and the prices should be reasonable for April. These guys are really good: http://www.skiology.co.uk
Flaine is very reliable with late snow as well and generally a bit cheaper. Otherwise you have Val Thorens, Tignes, Les Contamines that in general are all good at the end of the season.
