Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A snowHead
Hello!
I'm moving to Chamonix in a couple of weeks for a year or more and am trying to work out the cheapest/best way to get insurance to cover Alpine climbing and offpiste/touring as well as include the normal health insurance. The ski insurance would only have to be for the winter/spring (obviously
) but I need the alpine climbing cover all year.
Normally when going away I'd just get BMC insurance but they are limited in length and expensive, so I guess just not designed for what I need. Obviously there are a couple of ski seasonaire companies that include touring and skiing off piste but mention nothing about climbing.
Is there a policy/company anyone could recommend?
Thanks!
(Btw I'm being paid in the UK)

BMC = CAF
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

mishmash
, thanks, seems like what I've been searching for!
Avalanche Poodle
, I already have AAC, but what does it cover that CAF doesn't? Only had chance for a very brief read of the CAF policy so far but from what I've seen repatriation and the hut discount are the main differences (but could be wrong as my French isn't great).
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

The insurance provided by ffcam.fr looks quite good, but I can't work out how much it costs or how to purchase it. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm after medical insurance for skiing and speed riding.
