Poster: A snowHead
|
Stupidly booked flights from Wed to Sunday and I'm struggling to get any reasonable prices accommodation with a Sunday change day.
6 of us, happy to travel anywhere snowsure (we are going 3rd week in March) up to a 4 hour drive from Geneva
We want a resort with some life in it - bars / restaurants.
Any ideas please??? Been looking at Val Thorens but just can't find anywhere suitable unless we're 11+ miles out of the resort
Ideally don't want to pay more than £250 per head accommodation (we have already got flights & hire car)
Thanks!
Jason

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Have you tried Pierre Vacances? You can select the no of days you wish to be on holiday, and it doesn't look as though a Sunday change is a no-no.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Chamonix. Proper town with loads of hotels of all classes which will accommodate you staying whatever days you please

Re Chamonix, is that the one where you have to get buses everywhere? Will do some some searches

trainee snowboard jedi, so, from March 19 right? If it's March 12th you may be in trouble as it's still the school holidays and French hotels, even in Chamonix will be loath to do anything other than a full Sat-Sat and at inflated prices.
19th should be OK, try a general hotel booking site.
P.s. Depending on where you stay, no you wouldn't have to get buses everywhere... anyway, you have a car.

trainee snowboard jedi: You could stay in a valley town with easy access to the snow? Somewhere with chain hotels (eg Ibis - see Accor Hotels website, or see Hotels.com, Laterooms.com etc) bookable online would fit the bill. You might have to sacrifice the lively nightlife aspect but at least you will have a bed and somewhere to eat and drink....
eg: Sallanches (easy access to Combloux, Megeve and Chamonix resorts).
Moutiers (15 min drive to St Martin de Belleville for the 3 Vallees; 20 mins to Bourg St Maurice for Les Arcs).
Brides les Bains (Gondola access to Meribel).
Good luck.

You looking for a hotel or self catering? Or either.
There are some specialist companies that do weekend trips. A quick search on here should turn them up or maybe someone can put them up here.
