ok think my bonus trip to St Anton in January is on. Probably going for accommodation in St Jakob. Is it easy enough to get to St A from there, ski bus seems promising but more restricted at night. How walkable is it?

This is Haus Tirol, I stayed there about four year ago and the bus stop is right outside. It only takes a matter of seconds to walk to it and both the free ski buses and the night buses stop there.

You know it makes sense.

All the Accoomodations in St Jakob are good >>> upwards .
Walking (From the church) is not a problem except during snow storms.
Further down towards Gand is doable but would take 30 mins to the centre of St Anton.

When I stayed there I'd sometimes get back from skiing, have a quick shower and then get one of the last free ski buses back to town. Saves on bus fare, I guess I'm a tight wad!

http://www.duffski.com/ is about 20 yards from the bus and run by a really nice couple - he's English and a chef so the food is top-notch. I would thoroughly recommend them.
