Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Nanny in Whistler?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We are currently toying with the idea of going back to Whistler this winter for a 2 week trip - the first time back since our daughter arrived.

Whistler Blackcomb do a nursery arrangement, but we've gotten on really well the last few years with a nanny type arrangement and it does appeal. She will be nearly 2 1/2 yrs when we expect to travel.

Other then simply just going back to France or Austria next year - does anyone have any experience of using a nanny in Whistler?

Who did you use and crucially, how much? Any other tips? Getting her used to the time difference is also a concern!

We skied in Whistler with our children from the age of 9 months. To start we took Grandma to look after them but then used Whistler Kids which was excellent from 2 1/2 onwards and the youngest was skiing all over the mountain in a ski class of 3 kids from age 4. Always had excellent care and instruction from Nannies and Ski Instructors that the kids were very happy with. By 11 the kids were already brilliant all mountain skiers. We would recommend staying at the Blackcomb base as the Whistler Kids building is at the base so easier for drop off/pick up and Merlins is handy for après. You can also pick up from Ski School and make the last lift up again for the last run of the day as a family. The nursery area was large and well looked after/kitted out and they have a good baby ski/play area right outside. Private house/apartment rentals through Allura are good for the Blackcomb area http://www.alluradirect.com/whistler/. We also used the Nanny Network for evening babysitting and they were very professional women who the kids all seemed happy with. I think this company has become part of Nannies On Call http://www.nanniesoncall.com/. I believe they will do day time care too. Prices for both options were not cheap but not way over the top. We have been limited to Europe since they started secondary school so our experience with both options is now 4 years old. Our kids, and us, have great memories of Whistler and can't wait for the opportunity to go back as soon as their schooling allows a two week window.
Getting over the time difference can be a bit fraught, just the same advice as adults really, try to get into the new time frame as quickly as possible after landing. On one trip when we had flight issues we travelled via Toronto and stayed there overnight in a hotel travelling on to Vancouver the next day and this did seem to help all of us with the jet lag.
