Link seems a bit variable, but the whole website similarly is patchy. Best thing is to go to ekosport.fr and search from there. 4 gone to mates and me already!

I have used them, getting things sent to les carroz, they are very good, well packed, quick delivery, often seem to get job lots of skis in and also high end bindings.
if you search on french forums you will probably find a free shipping code or money off voucher

Does anyone know how long it will take to get our goodies? The site seems to indicate that they have 48/72hour delivery, but I'm assuming that this is only within France. Anyone got their stuff yet?
Cheers

My guess is that none of the people above would now expect to be 'safe'. If any of the above are investing in their first 'holy trinity', they may well end up being safer, not because their kit will offer them a lot of meaningful, statistical protection against avalanches (which will still often maim or kill you irrespective of being found and dug out quickly) but because they will end up investing in more avalanche knowledge and skiing in company who will consider its risk rather than just 'going for it'. In my case, I know (through practice experience) that the BCA tracker 2 is a much faster, easier to use transceiver with a significantly longer detection range than my existing one and I will now be able to do some elementary searches in my own time, provided I can persuade someone to hide the old one.
Rather than derailing this thread though, there's already plenty of discussion on 'safe' in the thread that prompted your comment ... http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=95893&start=160

moffatross, +1 - it's an upgrade for me. I only ever intend to use it to find others and hope that it is never needed.

For me it wont change the way I ski or what I ski or make me take more risks. Its just about having that extra bit of "safety" just in case. If I ever use it, hopefully I will be the one searching (for some one from another group) and not being dug out as I dont intend on putting myself or my mates in a situation that could lead to burial. Its just like insurance - for years you never need it and think its a waste of time/money and then one day.......

moffatross, OK, I know what I meant though. The low cost has meant a lot of people have invested in a transceiver where they might not have done so. This must be a good thing.
However, it does rather prove the point that I've often made and that is that safety gear is often priced sufficiently high, that the price can sway a risk assessment to the point at which price stops people owning the safety item. This just always seems rather unfortunate. This thread has demonstrated a number of people who have suddenly decided that ownership of this particular item is now within their grasp just because the price has come down when if it had not done so, they may not have invested in their safety at this time. Why are some safety items often priced so high that they then become the preserve of those that can afford it? Or to become affordable means that a lower quality/safety item has to be purchased?

Megamum, State subsidies for avalanche safety gear for under privileged skiers. A sure vote winner.

Frankly, it has in my case. I was always going to buy the kit eventually, but this bargain has made it happen (much?) sooner.

After spending a fair amount of time off-piste on the last EoSB, I decided that I should really get some safety equipment, so this thread has been well timed! The review here seemed good: http://beaconreviews.com/transceivers/Specs_Tracker2.asp , so placed an order Sunday and it was delivered to a French address Tuesday. I thought about ordering a shovel and probe at the same time but decided it might be better to try them first rather than buy-blind on the Internet.
Next I'm thinking of doing an avalanche awareness course (particularly now I can practice with my own Tracker!) in Chamonix, but I think they also do them in Morzine if there's enough people interested: http://www.avalancheacademy.com/product.asp?P_ID=6&CAT_ID=4

If Snow and Rock still do their price match, this could be a quick way to get your hands on it if needed in a hurry.

Thanks snow dave.
For anyone thinking of buying the direct link works but stock says limited and inst showing on the website (through search or browse functions) anymore so I would get in quick. REDUC20 or PAYPAL20 may give you 20euro discount. I found these on a few voucher codes sites but they didnt work with my order.
