Poster: A snowHead

Snow still decent though it has been windy. You'll need good edges as there has been a lot of snow blown off, I believe sufficiently so to cause problems on the road to Val T.
Still good on Vallon and up to La Masse. Slushy down to Meribel in afternoon. Superb around Val T generally. Don't miss nice tree-lined run down to La Tania.
Masses of boring detail available on request!

Chris, did you make it to Courchevel and if so how were conditions there? Thanks.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Went down to 1850 three times and to 1650 once. Conditions are just fine. There is plenty of snow on an excellent base and, needless to say, the pisting is top-class. We met some people in Motaret who had been told by their rep not to go to Courcheval because there was no snow! I can't imagine the motive for that. The only place where it got at all dodgy was in Meribel on the sunnier slopes late in the day. We did lots of reds in Courcheval and they were all excellent.

VT was great, a bit windswept higher up, Motterat was very icy at the bottom.
Courcheval was lovely but a bit windswept at the top of 1650 (because of the wind direction) on the friday before we left - I have the bruises to prove it!
However spoken to my son (working in Meribel) yesterday....been snowing for 2 days and likely to continue for 2-3 more according to the forecast! Good skiing!!!

I had the best skis I have ever hired so I wasn't bothered by the ice. The edges were so good they shredded my gloves. I'd never been to 3V before and was stunned by how much quality skiing there was available. I think (hope?) we are in for a great season late on.

20th March takes me and beanie off to Courchevel 1650 for the week! Where are you going? Let's try and meet up for a beer. Bearing in mind it's my first trip to the 3 valleys, and the prices are a bit scary, we'd better make it just the one!!!

Sorry Peter, I may have got my maths wrong (never been good at maths). Looks like it's two weeks - w/b 13th.
Have a good time though!

It's in the same set of valley, Mike, but the other side from Courchevel. You can ski from one to the other, but it's a good day's trek there and back.
Only actually planning to get the Courchevel valley pass (rather than the whole 3V) but could be tempted if I know there's someone to meet up with (the others I'm skiing with won't be venturing past 1650 for most of the week!)
