Poster: A snowHead

Mods, apologies if this is in the wrong section, thought it was the best place to place but feel free to move if needed.
Unfortunately let down on a rental in Megeve that somebody beat me to according to my emails.
Looking for a room or studio flat, furnished in Megeve or Chamonix from 15/12/2024 for a minimum of a month, ideally with cooking facilities, be that shared or private.
€500-€600 a month, just something short term / a month whilst settling in/setting up but could be longer potentially. Parking a bonus.
Surrounding villages considered as long as close to ski lifts/within walking distance & reasonable area facility’s, bars/restaurants etc.
Thanks all in advance, references available on request, DBS etc. basically just a place to sleep & cook. No hostels as need own space / quietness.
Thanks,
Rob

My lodger in the UK pays 500 pounds a month year round for his self contained studio and that's cheap. Your stay includes the most lucrative weeks of the year. Your budget for an individual place close to lifts is unrealistic, I fear.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@SkiRob2024, when we were renting out studios in Chamonix (19m2 and 17m2) we were charging more than that per week for the xmas and NY weeks ... typically €1k for new year's week, €800 for xmas.
Chamonix valley, you might find something in Argentiere. But otherwise not likely within easy walking distance of anything.
No idea on Mégève.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Cheapest I’m aware of are the seasonaire studios in the top of the grand roc, but even they are about e500/week for holiday weeks, and they are tiny.

I would guess there is a chance of less expensive accommodation in Passy or Domancy. But not close to ski lifts anywhere.

Thanks all, “j b”, I’ll have a look online at Passy & Domancy too, thanks.

@SkiRob2024, the problem I'd anticipate with those villages are that they are small and not at all touristy. So supply might be a problem. St Gervais-Le Fayet might be worth a look, what with the new lift going in and all.
Otherwise Sallanches. It's bigger. Actually has a few bars and restaurants.

Yes @under a new name, the reason I suggested them was that they were not touristy so probably you wouldn't be competing with tourist rentals.
Le Fayet is an interesting suggestion, the developers of new-build apartments are clearly anticipating a lot of interest from people wanting to be based there but with the lift being so new it is possible there isn't yet the demand on existing rentals. Worth a look at the prices there, with quite possibly a tolerable walk to the lift.
Sallanches is further from the slopes, but is the starting point for buses to both Megeve and St Gervais/Les Contamines; not sure how easy Chamonix would be unless driving but some airport coaches stop there.

@j b, could be - although the OP was asking for a month to start with and that means (mustn't it?) tourist rentals.
Yeah you can get from Sallanches Gare to Chamonix, every few hours ... or the train

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

To be honest that Le Fayet price represents €5-600 a week which plenty of holiday skiers may feel is reasonable and a fair trade for the extra 10 minutes lift ride at each end of the day.

@j b, ah, indeed, good point.

You know it makes sense.

Bulgaria was a contender but it’s such a long drive and I’ve had some bad experiences there mainly in the city however , but “Bansko”, Is a great resort.
France and Austria are currently very expensive. Decisions….
