Bonjourno Snowheads,
I'm looking at doing a season in zermatt this year and I'm after as much information as possible on places for accommodation, in a studio flat or with a group in a shared house/appartment? thoughts anyone.
Also I will obviously need a job or jobs to pay for my extravagant season in millionaire town so if anyone has any advice on that front it would be good.
I will be popping out at one point to try and secure some "dish pig" work as I don't speak german or swiss I'm guessing thats about all I will qualify for unless anyone knows some secret super cool job like being the zermatt pimp or something.
Although I am looking for maximum slope time!
all advice is welcome
Still slightly dubious
cheers

Try Cervinia, or a youth hostel temporarily. (Probably limited to 6 days)
English is a common language in Switzerland. French and German are also widely spoken. Zermatt is in the French speaking area. There are other languages spoken there too.
Most front of house jobs, where you deal with the public, will probably want at least two of French, German, and English.
For maximum slope time, try Cervinia, and ski over to Zermatt area.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Zermatt is in the Swiss German speaking part of Switzerland. The imaginary "Rostigraben" line which separates French/German speaking parts is at Sierre (Siders).

dubiousjaime, If you go to this site http://www.zermatt.ch/en/ click on Accommodation at the top right hand corner and you will see at the bottom of the list Apartments for long term rental, had a look and it seemed to be all in German so good luck.

dubiousjaime, rroflmao....
sorry welcome to snow heads.
Zermatt is great, I love it, I love Switzerland as a whole actually, it is a really interesting place with all sorts of history, culture and quirks.
I visit fairly frequently- either Skiing or cycling or summer holidaying each year for the last 4 years
but - I am fairly well paid, I am prepared to slum it a fair bit- so skiing has been 4 days max at a cheap hotel
summer holidays have been B&B / youth hostels and this summer will be camping.
Unless you are Richard Branson's secret love child (and you may well be) there is no way anyone does a season as a ski bum in Zermatt......
