Just reading about natures signs for the coming winter such as ants building really big hills in July expecting a hard winter,Snowberries in Scotland or the thickness of onion skins in France apparently!!! Does anyone else know of any other signs and what are we going to be getting?.

I predict that:
The best snow will be on the upper slopes

A old chap with a flap cap suggested in the papers it's going to be a cold one. And those scientist types at IPCC reckon global warming isn't at the moment so fingers crossed for English ski touring

You know it makes sense.

December 4th will see heavy snowfalls across Eastern UK, Christmas will be white for most of us in the UK, except for the South West. January will warm up to above average temperatures but February and March will be cold. Easter will be average with some snowfalls, especially heavy through the Central Belt of Scotland.
You heard it here first.

And no less likely to be right than the weather people.

Sudden flurries and unpredictable dumps are predicted as unsettled tartiflette moves down through the lower valleys.
Avalanche warning is at 4 and carrying of shovels, probes and emergency beacons is highly advised. Chance of spoiled fartbag is high.
