Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Peroneal tendonitis

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I suffered VERY bad pain in my feet last season, many refits/changes of boots didn't help, so I've been looking for a diagnosis and I was interested in the thread on plantar faciitis but I was getting pain mid way along the outside of my foot rather than underneath.

Much Googling has led me to think I have peroneal tendonitis but all the links and pages I have found refer to running injuries higher up the leg, the only reference I've found to skiing is a dislocation of the tendon which isn't my problem.

Does anyone have experience of this, and hopefully a way to reduce the pain? Most search results suggest it's something that never goes away completely but I'd like to get to a state where I can ski for more than 20 minutes at a time*.

Edit for spelling

* Without Rule 5 it would have been 10 minutes

is it only in ski boots you have the problem?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Good point that I should have considered: it's only in ski boots that it's a real problem but I do feel slight ache/pain at other times and my ankles do 'turn under' occasionally

tafflondon, I bought new boots recently and during the process (and against my boot fitters recommendation) I tried a slightly narrower boot. Initially it felt fine, but as I wore it for 15-20 minutes in the shop I got a pain more or less where you describe particularly along my wider foot. I ended up with a boot made on same last as my old ones! On that basis maybe you could try a wider boot (maybe hire one to try) or a thinner sock?
