Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just come back from heavy snowfall and empty pistes. Lifts now idle and pisteurs off back into the construction industry, but just the most outstanding Easter skiing…
And just before Easter a lot of Brits seem to have missed the chance to join in with the one of the best annual get-togethers in the Alps - the Mont Lachaux open race. The whole point is that anyone can enter - family members pitted head-to-head; juniors up to seniors, all on a professional course over the whole weekend. It’s one of the oldest events in the Alps. And it’s at Crans Montana – where Arnold Lunn – Henry’s son – held the first alpine ski competition - the Roberts of Kandahar Challenge Cup – in 1911.
This year, 380 entrants spent the weekend laughing, prepping and racing, with novices rubbing shoulders with professionals.
The course is set up and administered by Yves Caillet, director of Swiss Mountain Sports, and his team are up in the darkness of the early hours setting up the course, commissioning the timing gear, arranging the pasta party and ensuring the safety and security of the event.
We cheered the tiny kids down the hill and watched the club members blat through the sections. The courses are long, running from a fast start at Bella Lui down a few kms to Secteur Crans. This distance allows people to shine - you can fluff a few turns and still be in contention in your class.
I think it should be in all Snowheads’ diaries – next years’ details will come up on

Looks good - a tart post from me so I can find the link
Valais2 did you or your family enter the Mont Lachaux?
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

we didn't enter this year since we had visitors for the weekend and so did some excellent spectating (juniors particularly exciting) but sure as hell will next year. We did do some great socialising at the finish tents - huge fun.
