@kitenski, both Tannegg and Langerzug start at Schafalplift, and end at the Schlosskopfbahn.
You first ski 181 from Rüfikopf to Schafalplift (this is indeed a bit unclear in the skimap)
From Schafalplift you ski Langerzug back to Schlosskopflift in Lech.
No other options.
When on 181 you need to pay attention to not miss the sign towards Schafalp/Langerzug. You easily pass it by.
I noticed Schafalplift being indicated ar 'orange', or 'in preparation'. This is typically something happening quite often, it then opens around noon. |
Thanks, the map really isn't clear, it doesn't show 181 going to Schafalplift and just shows Langerzug stopping above the closed 216!

@kitenski, yes this is very silly. Given the fact that Langerzug is more open than Tannegg, and Schafalplift closed when Langerzug is closed, they might better use 215 for that connecting piste towards Schafalplift.
Or create a new number.
(That connecting piste is great by the way, and so is 181, beautiful scenery too, with the cablecars high above your head)

@Langerzug, I've demonstrated/proven your statements to be incorrect . I'm not going to continue to argue with 2 -3 week vacationer/tourist who hangs out most of the time People watching on the Oberlech Restuarant Terraces.

Official Weather from the Local Guy... trust no one else
The high-pressure influence is temporarily weakening and a low-pressure zone is approaching from the west.
However, it is degraded on its way to the east and therefore has little influence on our weather.
Nevertheless, the clouds should be numerous in the sky on Sunday and even very isolated, light rain showers cannot be ruled out, especially on Monday night.
The snow line is around 2000 m above sea level.
At the beginning of the week, the high pressure gains more strength again and the sun shines longer in some cases.
It is still mild and therefore spring-like. Little should change in the weather beyond the middle of the week and Atlantic fronts should only be able to advance into Central Europe from Friday.
Thus, more changeable and slowly cooler weather should then set in.

@geoffers, sorry but no. Just arrived in Lech, enjoying the snowy village. Even this season…
Thanks to the snow that some Tirolean forecaster (and a wannabe Tirolean) didn’t see…
Looking forward to many Oberlech terraces!

It's a 15-20 minute walk from Nasserein to the centre, I wouldn't bother driving.

@Cookiemonsterhahaha, There is also a night bus service about once an hour which works for drinking in the village. You might also find that the San Antonio & the place opposite (both in Nasserein) are at least as good as most of the places in the centre, Skiing Budha worth a visit for a curry

Weak influence of high pressure will mainly determine our weather in the coming days.
Thus, despite temporary cloud fields originating from Atlantic fronts moving eastwards across northern Central Europe, the sun sometimes shines even longer. It should also stay dry. In addition, the temperatures are pleasantly mild, especially in the afternoon hours.
In the second half of the week, however, an air mass boundary from the north is approaching and thus already on Thursday more and denser cloud fields pass through and push the sun into the background. Towards the weekend, a few rain and snow showers are to be expected, whereby the snow line should usually oscillate between 1500 and 2000 m above sea level.

Spent a few days over Saalbach last week and we had some lovely snow conditions on Wednesday am after over night snow. However, it did rain all day last Tues.
The weather has been so variable this winter, unstable weather patterns repeating. In these circumstances forecasting is a fool's game.

Arriving in Lech on Saturday and getting very excited! I know it's changeable but snow looking likely. This was the year we really treated ourselves and it's our 3rd trip, the first two in France - NY with terrible conditions (Morzine closed, a zillion people in Avoriaz) and half term in Megeve, so warm, freeze/thaw and disappearing in lots of places. Teens very excited at the thought of skiing on fresh snow

Snow on Monday !
Official Weather from the local meteo guy.....trust no one else !
With a cold front, which will affect us on Friday in the course of the day and will have moved on until Saturday morning, there is now a much colder weather phase, which will be able to assert itself until the middle of next week.
On Saturday there will be a calming of the weather behind the front, but due to strong westerly winds and a slightly unstable layered air mass, the sun can only slowly stage itself. In addition, there will be some showers until noon.
The snow line oscillates between 1300m and 1700m. On Sunday, the next cold front will hit us with new precipitation from noon. The snow line is initially at 1500m and drops to deep valleys by Monday morning.
On Monday, wintry weather conditions will prevail with damp and cold northwest jams. On Tuesday morning, the peak of cooling will be reached, at the same time the last snow showers will subside.
After a short improvement in the weather, a warm front will rise in the night to Wednesday, which will bring only little precipitation, but again significantly rising temperatures.

Arrived in Lech/ Oberlech about 2pm, some light snow showers at first - now dry. Kids have been on the toboggan run while I had a look in the ridiculous but lovely shop (Strolz). we’re all hopeful for a bit of snow overnight - but also expecting proper snow tomorrow and for it to get much colder.
Love it here, it’s fab to be back.

Am I right in thinking there are some lockers at Galzig base station? I just want to abandon some shoes, so a small one will do.

I am pretty sure there are lockers at the Jennewein and Alber stores, but I don't know if they are reserved for rental customers. I cannot picture lockers at the actual lift station.
There are lockers at the train station.

@Scarlet, Best spot is Jennewein, they are directly opposite the Galzigbahn ticket counters. There is a small area with benches a few lockers (which seem to be mostly used by Piste to Powder guides) but also a ski & shoe racks, which cost a few Euros a day. The people running the place are very friendly (mostly snowboard types). Alternative is the lockers at the station which will be cheaper (think you can pay with a card so not fumbling for coins but might be wrong).

@Scarlet, you can get a locker at Alber if not renting anything from them but it costs more than a few Euros as it’s heated and for helmets gloves boots etc so if it’s just for your shoes today then the Jennewein possibility is better.

@Scarlet, if you are looking just to leave shoes go into Alber Sport bottom entrance and leave in the boot store in the open area or under one of the benches they’ll be fine I’m sure, or go in trainers and ski with them in your rucksack, that’s what I do. Then up the escalator and out front door to Galzigbahn. Have fun.
