I can read a map and paralell park really well, but I have to admit that piste maps are another matter!

D G Orf, You jumped, at least you tried to mitigate your stereotyping by using the phrase

laundryman, I can read maps as long as they are the right way up - you just have to keep rotating them to make sure that they remain in the direction that you are travelling - does that count?

IncogSkiSno, Other clever people can seem to do it with the map book held the right way up - my way does sometimes means that the place names are all written upside down! But it does ensure that I get left or right turns correct - well most of the time anyway!!

IncogSkiSno, sometimes I find it hard to tell whether a flatish trail is up or down, which is a nuisance for route planning. I think arrows would be a good idea.

Bev, I'm told that it's not about being clever. Apparently it's to do with the way male and femail brains (talking generally) work differently.
