Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Still snowing in Morzine this morning and at the moment up in Avoriaz. Few ice patches but most piste is still powder. Winds seem bad up the tops though. (via SMS)

Does anyone know if the piste to the bottom of the Pleney lift is likely to be open soon? I'm guessing a lot more snow is still needed.

@under a new name, any of them, sorry not been there before (going Saturday) and am hoping to be able to ski back to the village from that side. Is Piste B the red that follows the gondola?

Think its the blue that loops out to the left from the top of Pleney and brings you out under the Crusaz chair at the bottom of the Pleney

@SkiTsar, no, it's as @Vessigaud, says. It's the main blue from Pleney top back to town.

The bottem half of Piste B is closed as it has not been prepared, huge mounds of man made snow that almost block the width of the piste. I wouldn't normally go around a closed sign that had been stretched all the way across but we were too late for Mouilles chair.

moderate snowfall for large parts of today as predicted. Lots of runs remain unpisted so small moguls forming in many places and weaker skiers may struggle but for stronger skiers it is great fun with lots of powder still easy to find.

Beautiful snow out there today and we're due some sunshine soon.

Be careful if you're due out soon. It's so unstable, there's been snow on really warm ground, melt, warmth, wind, rain, next to no skier compacting and then a reasonable dump.

If something is closed. Don't ski it.

There are indeed huge mounds of made snow all over the place and they were blowing when we were out just after nine this morning. As the Violettes run down to the Rosta bowl was still closed we went down the Belle Mouille and then Troncs to Nyon and the Chamois having seen the Pre Favre lift running but on arrival it was still going to be closed for another hour. So through the tunnel to the Fys. There has been lots of work done around the Pre Favre lift over the summer and the entrance to it has changed by 90 degrees and there is now virtually no upward slope to the tunnel and soooo much easier than the dreadful bridge. Big improvement I think but we only did it once.
Lots of school groups around today.

Visibility and wind have been pretty poor in Chatel today (especially high up), but the snow condition is superb.

Managed to ski/lift all the way back from Pre la Joux to La Chapelle Smile

@mikeycharlton, that's sounding a lot better. Just checked the Chatel and Torgon piste/lift openings and basically all lifts open and the closed pistes are the ones that are particularly prone to slides. Should be good in a few days.

Yea, pretty much everything was open today. Just needed to get the Tronchey lift back down to Torgon as the pistes are still closed.

It was pretty bleak around the button lifts at the top of the Tronchey. Visibilty was poor and there was almost nobody on the pistes in that area. Was a little bit nerve racking at times mainly down to the fact it was my first time there. Once I found the top of the Tronchey it was all good, as I knew my way home from there.

Still incredibly quiet around Torgon and Braitaz.

Last day for me tomorrow unfortunately, but the sun is supposed to come out for the first time this week and much lighter winds, so going to make the most of it.

Unfortunately the lift status display doesn't differentiate between the top half that takes you down as far as the Mouilles chair and is well used by the ski schools, and the bottom half that is a key home run (and takes me much closer to my appartment). They are running the piste machines down it tonight so it should be open for tomorrow. There is plenty of snow.

Avi risk is still very high so many upper runs still are not open. I'm hoping to get to St Jean D'Aulps when the they have the full circuit is skiiable.

The app is good for looking at webcams of the whole area from a single point. I can see right now (for instance) that the snow cannons are running at both the top and bottom of pleney. And everywhere is lovely and white (apart from the one cam still showing its picture from July snowHead )

How are Morzine and Avoriaz doing for average snow depths at the moment compared to previous years now? I presume both still slightly below? Only asking as I am out early March in Morzine so hoping a base gets built eventually.

Based on the holiday timings (http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=117735) I'd say that would be the last quiet week before the holidays bring everything to a grinding halt Smile

Given how much of the white stuff is coming down and based on previous experience, I'd say that it would be a great week to come out.

Piste B down into Morzine opened today. Watch out at the bottom of Piste G towards the TS de Fys as there is half buried barbed wire fencing either side of the pisted line.

Can't comment on the wall but did one of the ungroomed blacks down from the top of Grandes Combes to the Prodains bubble after lunch. Great fun with ankle to mid calf powder...though on skis I did break me Smile

Amidst the concern for the pleney runs can I just say, What a day! waited around for mossettes to open and was rewarded with miles of untracked thigh deep stuff. Several laps later my legs chucked it. And now in comes the snow again.....

Yup, Sanman, you are a lucky man! Total powder-fever on the french side (although hidden valley was worth two rotations on the way snowHead ), acres of untouched in Suisse. Cool
