Has anyone any experience of using the mojo with a torn acl? I had a fall and tore my acl last February? Both the physio and orthopedic surgeon say I can get back to skiing after rehab, although they advised that I could afford to lose a few kilos to take the pressure off the knee.
There was damage to the meniscus as well but they are of the opinion that it doesn't need surgery.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@hydrox, logically it should help you by taking some of the pressure off the knees (and I have read something somewhere about it protecting the ACL).
Having now used it several times, including a pretty big day out last Friday, I would say that it would help by (a) its “shock absorber” effect, (b) its absorption of 30% of the energy normally expended, (c) the assistance it gives to correct ski angulation.
At one point last Friday I forgot to switch it on, and I thought I’d got my skis on the wrong way round (I was using Elans with the L/R Amphibio system). When I stopped to switch my skis and realised what the problem was, I was struck by the subtle effect that the device has on one’s comfort and control whilst skiing.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@tatmanstours, your experience is encouraging as I have doubts about my knee even though physically, it feels strong. I'm thinking these doubts are from just after the injury where a wrong move gave me breath-taking pains in my leg.

@hydrox, I recently developed pain in my right knee. I was conscious of wincing as I put my ski on, and of trying to favour the other leg when turning and stopping. It seems to be improving (touch wood), although I’m still conscious of some soreness/weakness in the joint as I go up and downstairs.
I feel that the Mojo has really helped; yesterday I skied for a couple of hours (about 2,100vm) without noticing any discomfort or weakness in that knee. Last Friday I did 7,500vm and felt that I could have kept on going for another hour or two.
I would describe the Mojo as akin to having springs on the legs and shock absorbers on the knees.

Having had a wonky, weak knee all my life, the Mojo has allowed me to continue skiing for the last few years. As many others have mentioned, the service from the Mojo team has always been first-class and it is a great piece of kit. As my knee joint had all but worn away, I had a knee replacement two weeks ago and hope to be back skiing next season. I will definitely start out using my Mojo again and see how it goes.
