Poster: A snowHead

Not wanted to jump but always wanted to just kind of roll forward and fall face down in the snow off a chairlift, the snow just looks so soft and beautiful. I often imagine myself doing it while on the chairlift. As a 30+ though I would obviously never endanger myself and the human race in general and actually do it

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If you want a similar thrill perhaps you could try not turning next time you are driving and there is a corner coming up (ensure road is empty of other road users as there is no reason why anyone else should suffer for your general numptyness). As you sail through the hedge/fence/front garden the corner was put in place to avoid I'm sure you'll feel a fantastic sense of acheivement - another victory over the dull unimaginative norms that confine other people's lives ...

Not sure why they bothered - you can ski to that point by doubling back (to the left) as you get off the lift. You have to climb over a low gate, |
Yes me to its no big deal. However, the 4 people in question could not be bothered with the walk, showoff & most were on snowboards.

I would imagine the rebound problem occurs mostly when the lift is left empty. If others remain on the lift, keeping it weighted down, I should think there would be little problem |
No, it has happened before (not empty) , the cable has come off. that is why its illegal.

I'm surprised - in that case the rule is sensible and it confirms I won't try it.

I would be interested to know your insurance companies perception on this if you had to make a claim through injury (this is presumably if you are insured)??

A few years ago a young chap was working in the Porte du Soleil in a ski chalet we stayed in. He and his mate decided to jump off a chair when it had stopped. He's been in a wheelchair ever since as a paraplegic.

RachelQ, Who leaves a wheelchair below a ski lift? That is just asking for trouble

valleyboy, not covered, IMV, if the insurance company wishes to play hard ball. A lot of policies specifically cal for you to to take reasonable care of yourself. Even when there is no explicit statement, I think you'll find that taking reasonable care is an established principle of English law applicable to insurance.
