Crusader, if you hire a car on a Swiss side it will generally have snow tyres and chains
If your car has snow tyres it's going to be a lot better on the snow, but you sometimes need chains too, and when the weather is bad police may stop cars without chains, even if the do have snowtyres. |
pam w, Many thanks.

Anyone who likes puttins chains on is weird. Dont bother taking gloves etc, you'll end up taking them off to do the job properly. |
Take Blue Nitrile or Latex gloves. They keep you clean and dry, plus you can still feel what you're doing and they're disposable.

I'm sure Nadenoodlee will be over the moon that someone replied to her post but why did you leave it so long to reply?

DB, There have been so many Winter tyre/Snowchain threads. This one was bumped and I didn't notice the date, as being an old one.

Spyderman,
Only pulling your leg, I've done it myself (replied to a post from an old thread). At least yours was a one liner, some people have been know to write a lot more.

Why not marigolds to cover the sleeves more? I know it's not "manly" but ...

peura, You really want to throw them away after and Marigolds just don't give the same 'feel'

Haven't noticed any major requirement for "feel" fitting my chains. Handily they came with glove type things, which I've used.
