@Richard_Sideways, yeah, I thought that was odd too.

Yeah 3m would go a fair distance.
3 quid, not so much. Unlikely to cover presenters, camera crew, producers, editors, accommodation, subsistence, travel, commentators and rights. So any further sporting footage likely to come at the cost of reducing one of the other parts of the show.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'd imagine that the lions share of whatever the SS budget is ends up going to Time Warner for the FIS highlights package.
I find the negative comment on here tedious and inevitable at the same time. If you like skiing why wouldn't you watch Ski Sunday? It is the only terrestrial TV ski programme and should be supported as such. As stated above if you're a ski race enthusiast there is Eurosport available, but most UK skiers aren't interested in watching prolonged race coverage (I'm a seassonaire ski geek and I don't have time/can't bothered to watch a full race schedule). Ski Sunday is a magazine programme so cannot just show racing, and the new(ish) format tries to reflect the fact that 99% of UK skiers are holiday skiers. It is clinging onto it's space in the schedule as it is. Use it or lose it folks.
Then you can post your own questions or snow reports...

As I watched on iPlayer, I skipped through viewers' videos - get enough here and on YouTube. Nevertheless, I thought the broadcast was a reasonable effort. I particularly liked the discussion on piste preparation.
I was intrigued at the cracks being formed by slippage over the underlying grass; made me wonder about the risk of a section of the piste falling away in some sort of avalanche. I guess the risk was very low since the race would have been stopped otherwise.

Pointless program. 40 minutes of boring ski racing (despite GB being really not very good at it), no snowboarding whatsoever (despite GB being really quite good at it).

I heard they just banned the chunky monkeys from registering themselves to race.

@ukoldschool, it’s called Ski Sunday!
Watching a bunch of gymnasts flipping around in the air with a tea tray strapped to their feet doesn’t interest me, ski racing does.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Dr John nailed it. Gordyjh nailed it even more!
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

@Gordyjh didn't really nail it - "gymnasts flipping around in the air with a tea tray strapped to their feet" has featured aplenty in recent years
You know it makes sense.

If you can't appreciate the athleticism, skill, and balls all with a stunning background then I don't understand why you spend time in the mountains
Ski Sunday and reading snow reports and forecasts on TeleText was how we prepared for our ski trips growing up in my house! The theme tune alone is pure nostalgia!

Are you for real? so you have to appreciate ski racing to spend time in the mountains? I go to have fun and be with my mates.
And there was me thinking things had progressed from the days in the late 80's where we were not allowed into certain resorts or were pushed over in the queue's. A sense of superiority clearly pervades.

Of course it does.
And therein lies the problem.
You clearly have forgotten your place in the pecking order.

Hardly. I've pulled many a snowboarder through the flats.
It's reality. Far more people ski than snowboard. Hence the programming is going to weighted more in skiing's favour.
I thought the BBC were supposed to be emphasising minorities now?
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Statistically, I believe is 66% ski, 33% snowboards, whereas ski Sunday (name should be changed, but that's another story) is 90% ski, 10% snowboard. This isn't acceptable IMO and it means I don't bother watching.

UK retailers will tell you is 88% ski and 12% board.

In which case the Ski Sunday coverage split claimed by @ukoldschool would be a very fair reflection of the popularity of the two snow activities.

That's only because all snowboards are basically the same old crap, so you may as well just hire them

Or that skiers have a greater propensity than boarders for buying more kit.

Looking forward to it, although I'm with @snowornever - racing is pretty boring. It's the features that are most interesting. My understanding is that this year (to reduce costs) it will be Chemmy and Ed doing all the features (i.e. no screen time for Tim Warwood, Jenny Jones, Aimee Fuller etc)
not sure that is completely true, as aimee fuller has a clip on her insta page about a segment she filmed in courcheval just before christmas that will be going out soon on ski sunday
so hopefully more of this to come

Tim Warwood said on the Apres pod that he'd been filming at Hemel for a SS segment.
@mountainaddict, Not that much of fanboy so missed it I'm afraid! My comment was made in vague jest - she's obvs a superb skier; any Brit that's not born in the mountains with rubber band legged DNA and makes it to her level is obvs full on; I just prefer the Thovex stylee narrow legged stance style to her wider, obvious race pedigree stance (especially when just slithering about for fun) . . .
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Anything in it worth watching today? I’ve watched all the racing in Eurosport already so don’t need to catch up that. The race piste preparation segment last week was interesting.
