Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just a quick one, I'm trying to get a feel of how much cash we might need for 8 days? We're half board so breakfast and evening meals are sorted anyway plus fuel and tolls for the hire car can presumably be done by card so I'm not sure we'll need to take much if there's little need for it on the mountain and around the resort?

I think you could probably do it entirely on card with no cash at all - all the mountain cafes have card machines. I would get 500 NOK out from an airport cashpoint *just in case*. When you come out of arrivals, the cashpoints are inside the terminal, about 100m on the left. Cashpoints in Trysil main street (and probably at the Skisenter) too.

I took some cash but we could have gone the entire holiday (Trysil plus Oslo) without any need for folding. Paid everthing on a card but easy to lose track and get out if hand!

The only time I got to use any cash was when tipping the ski instructors (which I dont think they expected and may not be the done thing there but they were good and our oldest basically ended up in a privare as one of two for the group price).

Nope - all very card based. You do need ID for ski rental by the way (UK driving license was fine).

Excellent, yep will have that with me for the rental car anyway.

A 10kr coin is useful for trolleys at the supermarket but apart from that I’ve stop carrying cash for the last 2-3 years here in Norway but good to have 200kr just in case.

Not everywhere will accept credit cards (very rare) but all will accept debit cards.

Amazing sunny weather and snow conditions at the moment (I’m in Sälen now which is an hour away).

I see from the forecast that Trysil is having a pretty much clear sky bluebird week this week, probably just in time for a week of whiteout when we arrive 😂

@Locoblade, looking less sunny, but nothing significant in terms of snow out to midweek (if you believe any forecast that far in advance). With the existing base, on piste at least should be good Very Happy

Yep, I've been keeping an eye on the j2ski weather report since Christmas and it seems pretty accurate for the week ahead but several times it's predicted 30-50cm in the second week which turned into a few cm as that week arrived.

Nothing like that on yr.no which is generally reasonable - definitely less likely to predict large snowfalls that disappear than the likes of snowforecast, j2ski etc. But let's hope this time it's wrong!
