well put sir...drag lifts are to be enjoyed...a great experience. I cannot abide friends who complain of sore calves etc after a day at Glenshee or the wonderful Yad Moss. All competent skiers take drag lifts in their stride. See them as an opportunity to test buckles, balance and feel a stiff piece of metal between the legs.

M1 poma on Cairngorm. Constantly on at full speed because they have poor mid-mountain lift capacity. A good 3 foot off the ground is possible if you time it right. It kills snowboarders for fun!

The double drag in Chavanette, Avoriaz. Well completely benign to most, but here's a story to aid concentration.

My first season, first lifts, following an ESF instructor up. The double drag has twin pylons outboard of both tracks, each serving one lift, apart from one central pylon ⅔ of the way up serving both lifts. ESF dude is asleep on his poles, gently slaloming from track to track. Skis wrong side of central pylon, pole picks him up, flicks him upside down 10' above the ground, slams him face first into the ladder of the pylon, at which point he crumples to the ground sparko with blood pissing everywhere. I stayed with him until the pisteurs arrived (could see his upper jaw-bone through his cheek). Lifts are powerful, don't dick around!
