Met up with hage from the snowtones the other day in Edinburgh. Great guy and hoping to get back into pic this season. Griabli was crap this year without them. He was with Stevie Morgan who used to play at Anton back in the 90's at underground etc. Put me right in the mood to head over to St Anton like now

@boabski, Good stuff, you're right Griabli band was poor last season, be good to see them back - there in 2 weeks for mountain-biking, walking, kaiserschmarrn and Stiegel beers!
Potential target for next season, just wondered if anyone has any thoughts if they'd done it already, worth it? 650m climb for 1650 descent, and cheaper than helicopter!

@Markymark29, I will be skining next season. Had it with the escalating costs of Lifts tickets & its only going to increase with these Mega lift projects.
snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

TRANSALPINE-RUN will see its participants running on St. Anton am Arlberg mountains. This high-altitude trail run is considered one of the toughest multi-day race in the world. The crossing of the Alps with 300 two-person teams from over 40 countries is a highlight for all long-distance runners and enthusiasts.
On the eight stages of Germany via Austria and Switzerland to Italy, the athletes will master 260 kilometers, nearly a total of 16,000 m of uphill runs.

Been in St Anton last 10 days. Awesome walking and mountain biking, sunny weather in 25-30C temps.
Not much going on piste-side really, new 6 person Ubungslift in Zurs which should speed initial access up the hill from the carpark. Also 4 person Gampen lift access track opposite Zammermoosbahn being strengthened where it was collapsing at the side. St Anton piste just below Zammermoosbahn bottom station now fully remodelled, now complete looks very safe for piste skiers, all planked and netted on ravine side. Gampen restaurant rebuild 4-6 weeks behind, they've got a big job on to finish before season starts. Lots of maintenance going on in main lift stations, went up Rendlbahn 2x and fast descents on MTB otherwise had to earn the fast descents. New road works continuing above Stuben/ Lech - looks very impressive. Loads if hotels building works going on, Hospiz St C, Post refurb and Mondschein Stuben, time-share block in Nasserein etc.
Hay harvesting almost complete, locals are out picking berries all over the place for jams and tree sap for schnapps. Local farmers saying a cold, heavy snow winter ahead....I believe them, never let us down yet with their forecasts!

@Markymark29, They were weeks behind when they built the New Rendl Gondola/Restaurant/EgressPisteBridge still putting the finishing touches the week before Xmas !
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@stanton, Yeah, I'm sure it'll be done in time - keeping the access open up there via the Rodel track and Nasserein could be an issue for finishing trades if snow comes November I guess.....I'm sure they'll have it all worked out.
I'm going to buy a season pass next season for me and OH, anyone know of any early season buying discounts available, or any means of obtaining a say 5% discount, at 790€ for planned 26 days Arlberg skiing 15/16 it represents £22-23 a day at current exchange rates which is very good (3V in France 1160€ I believe) but any discount is welcome......
Then you can post your own questions or snow reports...

Only discount I know of is for those working/living in the Arlberg (locals get a cheap Arlberg Ost pass, or workers/locals working over a certain number of hours for a certain proportion of the season get half the lift pass back). However, if you buy the season lift pass in St Anton for the Winter, the summer one (St Anton only) is free, or at least it was a couple of seasons ago.
After all it is free

@Markymark29, no discounts only what @Sitter says reagrding locals & workers.
If your skiing the season €790 season pass is a huge a discount !!,
Next season is 129 days long thats a lift ticket for €6.12 a day as opposed to €51

SNOW ALERT . First Snow of the Season Saturday September 5th
There's been a 'Fluchtlingshilfezentrum' in Schruns for quite a while (over a year at least) - I live right next to it! Nice people, but their taste in music is awful
