Could be worth looking at whether you can change the dates you fly to or from Wengen and see if you can get anything back on the hotel if you shorten your stay. This far ahead there's likely to be some flexibility if you're a well-received reliable regular.

Chris Brookes, he doesn't need to californicate. Just eg to go on one of these packages they have for single skiers to get together. Gentle friendliness and astute wit, coupled with superior skiing skill could take him further than he expects.

slikedges, in my experience it wins about once in every hundred times if that, given the choice between the fit looking bloke and me, the other chap wins every blasted time even when he's supposed to be your friend and already has a girlfriend back at home

D G Orf, you're making a self fulfilling prophecy there. You make yourself believe that you haven't got a chance (too fat, not good looking enough etc), and so you don't take any chances, and so you don't experience any success, which makes you feel as if you were right all along. Unless you get out there and start taking some risks then things aren't going to change.
Some women do go for looks alone, a lot of them are very unhappy with their boyfriends. Most women go for a combination of attributes, however unless you go out and meet them then you're not giving them the chance to show you. Like I said earlier, it's a mind game with yourself, and at the moment you've given up before you've even started.

Kramer, not really I'm just a light hearted person at heart, I've spent the last 30 odd years doing things for other people so now I'm looking after myself and I want to go to Wengen because I like it there, I'd like a companion but I'm not worried if I find one or not

D G Orf, once you are comfortable with yourself, you may find that you do attract more females - confidence is very attractive! The men that I'm usually attracted to aren't usually the best looking in the room, but they are usually happy with their lives, comforatble with what they are doing, and look like they are having fun! Have a good look areound the next time you go out - couples are made up of all different types of people, and I can guarantee that they are not attracted to each other purely on the basis of looks and athletic bodies! (and besides, I've seen pictures of you, and you are not unattractive )
