Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Mont Chery today for a telemark lesson - so I didn't get very far, given that I can't ski:
- anything too steep
- anything bumpy (at all)
- anything too icy
- anything too slushy.

As you can imagine - Mont Chery at the end of March was an ideal place wink

Yep. Ice, giving way to luuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrvvvveeeeely cashmierie soft stuff (for about 10 minutes), giving way to slush, slush and more slush.

Again, not a patch to be seen anywhere. Quite remarkable really as the village side of Mont Chery gets a lot of sun.

More telemarking tomorrow. This time in Avoriaz.

What doesn't kill you, etc...

Given the preference of OH to stick to routines, probably every day at about 12:00. Moi-meme, I expect I'll probably check in around lunchtime on 1st as I work from La Turche to Pleney on my day 1 warm-up. After that, who knows. All depends on the snow and weather, which will probably determine my movements more than anything else.

9 sleeps to go... Smile

A small tour on telemarks today...

Parked at Ardent; Linderats; top of Arare; Fornet bowl; Swiss Wall (downloaded - no way on telemarks!); Grand Paradis; Crozets; Mossettes; Linderats; Super Morzine; Linderats and home.

Not as warm as yesterday - so only really slushy below around 1600m.

Again, good snow everywhere - even at the bottom of the Grand Paradis.

We went over Verbier way at the end of last week, in fact the "Super Grand Saint Bernard" and the Hospice on the col. We got blown off the mountain by the winds! The video gives a good impression of the -10C and 70km/hr winds at 3000m. http://www.chaletgeorge.com/2009/03/22/hospice-du-grand-saint-bernard/ More snow due in the PDS from tonight and then cold with snow showers til Friday!

ISIA training on Mont Chery today. Including the joys of doing the (black) icy bumps off the back with no poles. And with our arms folded. Shocked

Clear blue skies and largely empty pistes meant that, when we weren't trying to kill ourselves in the bumps, we could hoon around at ridiculous speeds. Most excellent.

La Grande Ourse have started doing mint flavoured whipped cream as an option on their hot chocolate. Absolutely fabulous and highly recommended.

I've suggested that they take it to the next level and do Grand Marnier whipped cream as well. Cool

Lots of snow on the forecast for this evening / tonight, but no sign of it at the moment. A front moved in around 14:00, but seems to have disappeared.

No worries snowandtrek.

Maybe, possibly on Thursday. I've booked a mono-skiing lesson with Mike Hammond, but may be able to change.

Are the gates all day - or just the morning?

Test Technique? Are you planning on teaching?

Same here - although probably only an inch or so on the balcony.

Enough to make things look pretty, but not much else.

I'm all for pretty though.

Proof, if ever there was, that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

The zero isotherm must have been sat just above 1000m for most of the night before dropping this morning. Hence the measly inch on the balcony was actually 4-6 inches on the ground at the top of Pleney.

Today was very mixed in terms of weather - a classic case of "if you don't like the weather then wait 10 minutes". It variously snowed, was overcast, was windy, was sunny, snowed and was windy, was sunny and snowed(!).

We stayed down low all day as visibility kept coming and going and, for what we were doing (training) it's better to have some vis. So, we ventured no further than the top of Pleney, the top of the Les Gets bowl and the Nyon Plateau.

Good snow everywhere we went and lots of freshies to be had. Although, in my perverse way, I much prefer the chopped up stuff.

It's currently snowing gently and looks to be set in for the night.

Just had a lovely morning in the powder on Morzine/Les Gets side!! More snow due tonight - should make the Slalom training interesting tomorrow!

Is anyone else registered to do the Vetrans race on Saturday?

Lucky you. I've been doing short turns all day. And more short turns. And more short turns.

Of course, if I could do them properly then we wouldn't have been doing all those short turns!

Vetrans race? Lummy! Maybe next season, once I've done some race training.

Can't join you tomorrow as I couldn't move my mono lesson with Mike H.

Well, winter's back! Effing cold out there today. The apartment is noticeably colder - so much so that I've had to dig out the supplementary fan heater.

I was skiing around Morzine / Les Gets again today. Without wishing to send like a dreary bore that only has one phrase - good conditions everywhere. Although in some places the loose snow gave way to a (very) icy base. Particularly exciting on those few times when we hoooooooooooooooned.

Around 5-10cm of fresh stuff on the hill - not as much as I was expecting when I went to bed. But it's all good.

It's been snowing on and off all afternoon. It's snowing as I type.

Excellent everywhere.

Remarkably quiet slopes.

(Apologies - don't know what else to say. I do hope that conditions get worse - I could really do with having a bitch about ice, or something like that.)
