Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Storm clouds gathering this afternoon in Ischgl and winds picking up. The east of the alps still looks like it is likely to pick up more snow than the west in the next few days.

Longer term the hardest cold options for the second half of December in Europe look like being moderated a little this evening. We'll see.

Here are the ensembles for the Arlberg:

And for Chamonix:

Lets hope so, the snow at high level up to VT, down to Mottaret then up above Corchevel all looks ok-ish, a bit of cannon snow and bashing should be fine, at least its looking sunny for most of next week. The risk of the early season trip, but on Monday I will be skiing!! Very Happy

Going to be rather stormy and cold (but snowy) in western Austria over next couple of days.

Low pressure over Europe still looking like rolling into Europe towards the end of next week (16/17 December). Obviously at this distance there is still plenty of potential for change and the precise location of where the low pressure is likely to be centred is going to change with each run. But it opens up options for snow across the alps and the UK too. We'll have to see.

High pressure of 1060 to 1065 over Greenland still looking strong and much of next week will be very cold from Tuesday 14 December.

Here is this evening's chart for next Thursday morning. Big low pressure system features again.

17 December signal for snow in Alps growing quietly stronger... Worth watching. wink

Looks like a lengthy cold period for the UK from Monday...

Hmm. Better get another bottle of extra strong screenwash. Looked at one in Halfords yesterday. It said for summer, dilute. For winter, use neat. For severe winter, use double concentrate.

Should I just simmer it gently in a saucepan - like a sauce reduction? wink

i gave up looking for screenwash in my local Halfrauds..they had two versions, one pink, another in blue and both for -4 Puzzled

Think i'll stop en-route and pickup another bottle of the carrefour 'pink' which has always worked for me and smells of grapefruit rather than something which died in the washer bottle like some others i can think of Shocked

MoodyFFS, indeed. Those are 850s of course, but with a chart like that, practically the whole of the UK could end up with sub-freezing max temps next Friday, plus a band of snow would just have moved through and there would be considerable shower activity in the north and around the coasts.
