Freddie Paellahead, La(Le) Ferme in Villaroger and if venturing across to the La Plagne side check out Le Sauget which is just to the left at the top of the lift out of Montchavin. Check your piste map easy to find both.

Awesome snow again on the hill today, but did not get up as had to go to the dentist. Very poor vis anyway. Tomorrow should be good even if it keeps on snowing. They!!! say it might get better as the day goes on. We shall see.
Remember anyone coming out this winter, meet at George's Wine Bar in Arc 1950 from 5 - 6.30pm most days if you are interested in a beer, wine, chat or arranging to go out on the hill together the next day or later in the week. See you there.

barthez1980, Now that it is low season, it is much cheaper and quicker depending on the time of day to go via Annecy and round the lake to albertville than to go all the way to Chambery and back. I did it yesterday in 2hours.
charlie26, If you are in Chambery then just stick to the auto route and follow the signs for Albertville then Bourg. Very easy.
christinelondon, most phones work here, the golf should be no problem.

thefatcontroller, i agree. But if you do venture out in 1800 be prepared to spend some money at night it is not cheap. Cheapist place in 1800, the kebab cafe in villard for food. For drinks all much the same about 2.50 for a small beer and 4.50/5.00 for a big one.
same in Arc 1600, cheapist is takeaway bar under the arches. Beer about the same price.
same in Arc 1950, Malee snack shop cheapist. For wine and bottled beer, Geoerge's wine bar, otherwise the Pub.
same in Arc 2000, the snack place, sorry forgot the name or the bowling. Beer is about the same there as well.
Like thefatcontroller, says shop down the valley and drink and eat at home if you are on a buget. Play hard all day.

Been out in les arcs since saturday and its been exellent conditions all week. Great powder day yesterday!
Resort is empty. There was noone on the derby yesterday morning and got fresh tracks on 2 runs down to vallandry. Still finding fields of untouched powder this afternoon in the trees in vallandry.
1600 has been killed by the wind today. All the snow from yesterday has been blown god knows where.
Top of Cachettte was sheet ice and kryogenic chill factor today.
Malgovert still has loads of fresh tracks to be found and comborciere had soft moguls to bounce off.
Spent the afternoon in vallandry trees with fresh track in the trees off access transarc. Was quite shocked to find the woods almost untouched in areas.
Finished the day off with a ride down to Nancroix from the top of grizzly passed the chapel. Completly untouched fields coming into Nancroix altho a itsy bit crunch under the new snow.
hoping for better light tommorow but it looks like the wind is still a problem.

Arno, yes i will be around. By all means get in touch if you fancy doing something. Slowly stuff is coming into condition at last. PM me is best.
tuxpoo, pm me and we can arrange to meet up if you want. There is still good snow in 1600 if you know where to look, we had a great time there on the way home today, still stashes of untracked powder.
The day started very windy and cold but still found good powder down to Arpette lift then over into 2000 bowl and down to Marmottes. Excellent areas of untracked snow after last nights fresh shower, not that much but enough to make the off piste areas fun. Then up varet and down the KL, great powder and plenty of places to put fresh tracks. Over to Grand col via some more interesting untracked areas and then plenty of room to take more fresh lines for the rest of the morning.
Did not stop for lunch and instead found more lines in some nice hidden gullies going down to the arcbulle lift. Off the back into a sea of white untracked powder all the way down yet a different route to the national park gates. 2 km of fresh tracks, what next can we do. Have coffee.
Then back into Peisey and return through the forest to Arc 1800 with a few nice stashes still to be found. Finally home. Tired legs but what a day. Vis was not always great, but the snow is starting to settle at last so slowly, slowly it is possible to start doing the fun stuff at last.
Anyone want to join us, if you are coming out or already here PM me so we can arrange something, but you MUST have your own safety gear.

charlie26, if you are staying on the Chantel piste I assume you are in an apartment in the Alpage du Chantel development? There's no need to go up any lift from there to get to the Villards chairlift. Simply ski down the Chantel piste until you get to the snow front then ski across to the Villards.

Ventured over to Les Arcs toay. Drove to BSM and got Funiculaire to meet Holidaylover on her day trip.
The snow is Les Arcs is always great and today was no exception. We opted for a cruising day (HL's train was delayed and she did not get onto the slopes til 11am). We covered all areas and bowls from 2000, 1950 to 1800, 1600 and Peisey area. Just great snow throughout and quiet slopes. Covered a lot of ground and must have sampled nearly every chair lift Les Arcs as to offer. Nice brief lunch stop by Vanoise Express (the resto slightly up on the righ hand side - great service and delicious onion soup).
Was so impressed plan to return next week when the outlaws arrive to babysit! All in all a super day....

Mouth, Pleased you had a great day, I wondered what had happened to her this morning. Yes it was very quiet today. Let me know if you are over again so we can meet up. Whilst you came over our side we went over yours.
Great snow in La plagne as well. Today we were hunting for more untracked powder and found loads. Went up to the glacier and the top chairs were shut until lunch time, but no problem found plenty of other untracked places to play hidden from the wind which were in great condition. Then finally up the top left chair and over to the Freline bowl, to late to do the north face. Great fresh untracked powder all the way down to the forest. Up the chairs and down another area the kids call the 'waterfalls run', lots of fun and the start gave us a steep untracked entrance. Finished with a hot wine and home. Another great day with few people about. It is snowing again now so those coming out are in for a real treat with pistes across the paradiski area all in great condition and powder round every corner 'as long as the dreaded wind' does not pic up tomorrow.

charlie26, You'll find that if you turn the CAPS LOCK KEY OFF ON YOUR KEYBOARD then all your lift queues will be empty - it's just part of the Snowheads service....
As you haven't really defined 'fairly good' then it's hard to give exact specifics - do you like red runs, black runs, basic off-piste, scary off-piste or skinning for miles to get the freshies?? All of that is available in/around Les Arcs.
This http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=53223 is a pretty good starting point.
Enjoy the trip...

What a cracking weekend! Conditions today absolutely brilliant bar the flat light at times, but that improved as the day went on, especially higher up. Good dump overnight, couldn’t wish for better.
Not a lot of point going much off-piste today, stayed mainly on and between the pistes.
Petit Renard was the run of the day though, which we spotted trackless of Grand Renard lift at about 12PM.. couldn’t understand why no one had been there. However another group ‘arrived’ at the same time as us (:<). Absolutely brilliant though, was worth a couple of runs – loads of fresh tracks in knee/thigh deep powder. Made our way over to the other side of the hill... M was closed, Comborciere, the entrance was the hardest part, relatively easy and lovely snow all the way down.
At close, the reds into Vallandry were getting pretty bumpy, which was causing a few problems for some, but great fun for others.
I had intended yesterday, (my first day here this year) to be fairly sedate – cruising the blues, however that was totally scuppered when we met up with Tuxpoo and a 'local', had a brilliant day, mostly in the Vallandry tress. Finished with a blast down a deserted Myrtilles pretty well as fast as our skis / boards would run. Survived a day in the trees without a helmet too!
Cheers Tux & Martin – cracking start to my time here.
As an aside, caught the 3PM tunnel, left Calaise at about 5 PM arrived Les Arcs exactly 1AM. Deserted roads, apart from a little fog between Reims and Dijon easy run down. Cruise control set on 137 KPH on toll roads, didn’t speed off them.
Low down today though, visability was a little limited....

snowcrazy, never has a moment to contact you. I am staying with allanm, in a couple of weeks. will try again then.
Wondered if anyone is having fun with the new arpette lift? Strange dismounting going round the corner. Is of great amusement to those on it for the first time.
If the left hand side person is not a bit quick they are forced into those on the right. Quite worth some spectating

I do not need nor want, ever again three kids in the back......
Anyway.... Another great day In LA, stayed mainly on and between piste, trees..., as after talking to a few locals, there seems to be a concern that there is loads of snow and no real base, so if anything were to happen ' the whole lot will come down'. I don't know if that is correct, but it's the only advice we got today, so took it. Avy is only 3/3, but some say it should be higher up top. Spent an hour in the avalanche park lunchtime ish - was quite 'busy'.
Deux Tetes was brilliant, as was Rouelle, both totally deserted. Did the couloir bottom right of the Bois de Lour, cracking..
Talking in Bar de L'Ours last night (totally French speaking bar) , there are compartitively few British at the moment, but a few more than last week.
Brilliant three days so far, and more snow forecast for later in the week.
Who else is over here!!
