I should probably post this elsewhere, but I skied for a couple of days this week in the 3 vallees. Firstly the piste skiing really is as boring as I remember it and the off piste, well there wasn't any because every time I ventured there I hit rocks. In fact I hit more rocks in one morning than all season in the PDS. I honestly think there is more snow in my garden in Morzine than there was at 3000m in Val Thorens.
High altitude skiing......paah

Went to check out the 'fresh' today on Mont Chery and it was a little wind blown which made the blacks on the back rather interesting.
When I was there about 1pm there was 10/15cm of fresh on a crusty base - lovely!
Front of Mont Chery down to the town was in better condition as was out of the wind.
Still snowing at the moment but not heavily,

Well, snowandtrek, and myself and a couple of others went for a blast around Nyon, Les Gets and found great snow. 20cm's on a crusty base on the wind blown faces but 40-50cms in some hidden sheltered spots. Truly over your head stuff in places and very light. Very quiet off piste too. Forecast seems to be for a short spell of better weather for transfer day and Sunday followed by more snow for next week.
Will it ever end....sigh?

Oinky report
I went to visit Oinky this morning. She looked very cold with icy whiskers and had decided to park herself in front of a pistebasher. However, as we returned up the Fys chairlift, she had started to have a friendly play with a snowboarder.
Still snowing in Morzine (and has been, on and off, since last night). Visibility was surprisingly good this morning, but terrible this afternoon (when we headed up to Avoriaz).
Hopefully we might get a bit of sunshine this weekend

Still snowing in Les Gets - we took friends over to La Grande Turche and round the Roc d'Enfer circuit twice, stopping for lunch second time round. The sun kept trying to put in an appearance but did not succeed and as we were in the trees the visibility was fine. Snow up to our knees (ok mine aren't very far off the ground) on piste and piles of it off piste. The forecast does look like clear and sunny at least tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed.

Could not be better. The sunny side stuff will get crusty quickly, the dark side is all powder. More snow forecast from Monday too.

Skied yesterday morning on Les Hauts Forts;the perfect powder day. The sun shone and the snow was truly amazing. Up and down Les Crozats four times in totally untracked, deep and light powder. What made it even better was that it was transfer day snowandtrek, . Today (Sunday) is the last day of sun for a few days. Another snowy week to come.

We're back after a week of vastly differing days of skiing.
Sunday was bright and sunny, cruising around well-bashed pistes on old-but-still-powdery snow.
Monday was grim - rain all day and slush at the bottom of the domain. Off-piste was the only joy to be had, and even then only if you found untracked lines.
Tuesday and Wednesday were brighter, but the temperature had risen so it was real spring snow conditions - Mont Chery in particular was rock hard in the morning but slushy in the afternoon.
Thursday we awoke to 15cm of fresh pow, and despite the snow still coming down, the skiing was brilliant - as light as a feather and everywhere first tracks!
Friday another 10cm and if anything, even better - no fresh snow after about 10am so the powder fields were simply stunning, we tracked through trees and little clearings from the top of Violettes right down to the bottom of Chavannes, with waist deep pow and the best skiing I've ever had.
What a week - and barely a ray of sun the entire time! You guys that are there this week are VERY lucky to still have loads of pow to play in, but you'll need a top up later in the week. Enjoy!
