pollittcl, been there done that, all be it informally, that's why I wanted a companion not a student !
Isuppose I'd better start my search earlier this year 4.5 months is obviously just not long enough So the request is for a suitable companion to join me next February in Wengen

D G Orf, but I'd still be a suitable companion,....... just not in Wengen and not next February! (mind you, by then I may have had enough of working for ski school - or they may not want me back next year!)

pollittcl, you could always go and teach in Wengen, they've quite a big ski school and are always looking for new recruits, especially female ones, I hear the pay is better in Switzerland than in the US as well

D G Orf, the pay's got to be better anywhere than it is in the US. Unfortunately my "real" job isn't portable, although I will eventually change it.

|
|
|
pollittcl, so get your "real" job in Europe or better yet quit just before ski season work as an instructor all season and get a new "real" job at the end of the ski season

Well, DGO, if you are paying.... Several people did take me for a girl at first on Snowheads. Perhaps my name was ambiguous, mentioning only one ball. Perhaps I could fool you long enough? I'll take off my wedding ring if that helps.

D G Orf, What is wrong with being vegetarian? You have seriously offended me here! (You're not alone, my entire school managaes it quite well!)
Seriously, though, what's so wrong with veggies? We're not hard to cater for, just give us chips!

crazy_skier_jules, My daughter was vegetarian for about 3 years and then started eating meat again when she was about 16 or 17. I had just got the hang of catering for her and then she converted back! Are you vegetarian for humane reasons or do you just dislike meat?

crazy_skier_jules, nothing wrong with being a vegetarian, although I think vegans take things a bit to far, it's just that I'm not and I don't want to offend anyone by eating my steak in front of them whilst they eat their rabbit food, besides to be really honest here whilst I've found Swiss food to generally be very good, much of it is not ideal for vegetarians

I'm a second generation vegetarian...
I only eat things that eat vegetables.

D G Orf, It does sound a bit like a blind date thing, women dont respond to demands like that. You have to sell yourself a bit more i think, otherwise it'll be table for 1 in Wengen!

yeah, D G Orf, oi! Veggie food is nice!
Yes I think being vegan is taking things a bit too far. I'm not offended by people eating meat in front of me - well at least I have learnt not to mind - I have to put up with everyone around me not caring.
But sorry dude, I'm too young! Otherwise I'd love to come to Wengen, for the skiing of course!

crazy_skier_jules,
Are you planning to go to uni? If so that's only a few years off. Once there join the ski club and you'll meet loads of like minded people. That's what I did and I had a whale of a time. Also try and get the role of holiday organiser - then you get the free place!

crazy_skier_jules, damn shame about the age difference as I am quite a good cook
For anyone else out there, the Alpenrose will do vegetarian food it's just not brilliant at it, fortunately they do five course meals, one course is a salad, roughly 40% of the starters would pass as vegetarian and about half their soups (the other half tend to have a meat stock) and all their desserts, however I can't think of a single main course that does not have meat or fish in it

Well, the hair might have fooled Orf for a while, if I'd hung it over my face to hide the moustache, but nobody had seen me at that stage.
All this talk of food is making my mind go of to recipes...... Lamb roasted with lots of garlic and rosemary on a bed of sliced potatoes and stock, or tuna steaks peppered like a steak au poivre, with a brandy, port and cream sauce, or chicken roasted and turned with butter, tarragon and garlic inside and finally flamed with brandy, or liver cut up small and fried in clarified butter after marinating with lots of ginger, garlic, pepper and some lime juice .........

Well snowball, now you've got me started thinking about dinner, tonight I think it's odds and ends, so cauliflour, a couple of new potatoes some bacon, mushrooms spring onions, cheese, cream and pasta thrown together should provide sustenance. Wednesday however I think might result in fillet steak

IncogSkiSno, let me put things this way, the total indigineous population of Wengen is arround 700, of those 700 hardly any are single girls of a suitable age because almost all of them move somewhere more exciting

D G Orf, OK then the whole of the Jungfrau - and you're the 'more exciting' that they're looking for.

IncogSkiSno, but I'm not the more exciting type I'm really very quiet and enjoy the peace and quiet of the area
